Did anyone else put you could heat and distill off the alcohol ??
Original post by Shevo
Yes, I put this!

o-ch2 was a triplet though

You dont need H+ Ions you puppet you arent making a hydroxy nitrile

Agreed, it's KCN, Ethanol, Reflux for conversion of haloalkane to a nitrile

Well it clearly wasn't clear enough since other people didn't understand the word SUTURE. Anyways, if they needed to use the word stich to clarily then why use any other word to throw people off?

polar bonds can be hydrolysed and polyalkene non polar 2 marks

Was the actetate mechanism nucleophilic addition. PLEASE ANSWER

yep thats what I got
Original post by AliRock
Don't need the 2.

It won't matter, in the mark scheme it'll be (2-)chloroethanoyl chloride.
Lol the only reason i knew what suture meant was because i watched grey's anatomy instead of revising, ironic

I said that.

hydrogen bonding H2N ------ HN2CH2COOH etc.

The question said only involve the atoms involved or something, so I did:

delta plus C=O delta minus O
delta plus H-N delta minus N

Hence:

R-C=O - - - N-H2-R

Main points IMO:

Delta plus and negatives
- - - between O and N
Guys for distinguishing between the acyl chloride and haloalkane put ethanol and white misty fumes for acyl chloride is this right

Anyone get 1.2 for the salt/acid question??? Cant remember exactly what the question was asking but it was the last question on the 2nd page

I did!!!

the difficulty of that past paper above matches that of today's paper (in my opinion at least).

for this paper you needed:
C - 56
B - 65
A - 74
A*- 83

I think the grade boundaries will match up too

I hope anyway.....

gonna need them to be a bit lower than that son :^)

I did!!!

Thank God!! Hopefully its right

It's supposed to be water, but I'm not sure whether ethanol would work or not. The observations are correct.

I agree the word suture was completely unnecessary and was probably just there to confuse people. It said stitch in brackets next to the word suture though so the question was doable still
distillation??????? maybe

Anyone????

for the first yes but not the second

Hydrogen bonding between O and N????????? NH OH etc.

Yeah I thought it seemed a little low, it's a good sign that we got the same thing though haha, hopefully it's right
