Rationalism (15)- individuals are born with reason and rationality, self reliant
Modern liberals believe people can self actualise and improve themselves through the acquisition of knowledge - rational debates rather than conflict

Did you do the 45 marker by any chance on conservative new right being more united than divided?

No I did the Liberalism one, sorry
My predictions for unit 4

45:
Feminism: is it a single ideology?
Multiculturalism: does it breed tension/conflict?
Nationalism: is it progressive or reactionary?

15:
Ecologism: ideas of eco-socialism
Ecologism: support for sustainability
Multiculturalism: liberal criticisms
Nationalism: nationalism vs. the state
Feminism: link to liberalism

You're not going to pick up marks with only one argument in favour/against the proposition. That's an introduction and one paragraph at best.

it was about a 1.5-page long paragraph for that point and the other side i had two arguments essentially. how bad can that be?

There are some other 15 markers but I'm guessing you left them out because they came up in recent years?

The only other 15 makers I know of are
In what way can multiculturalism be viewed as a form of identity politics and the link between multiculturalism and communitarianism.
Which ones am I missing ?

Can I just ask - why do you think that particular nationalism question (45 marks) will turn up? I was thinking that but I saw how many times it had been repeated, and quite recently too. :holmes:

I think I did fine today except that in the conservative 15-mark question I forgot to mention organic society! I talked about noblesse oblige and much else, and even described the concept of organic society without actually naming it. I can't believe I forgot this. How much do you think they will penalise me? :frown:
Since Jan 10, feminism has come up 8 times, ecologism has come up 8 times, nationalism 7 times and multiculturalism 7 times.

Predicting that the 45 markers on 4B could either be:

- Feminism, Multiculturalism and Nationalism (if Edexcel want to be nice*)
- Ecologism, Multiculturalism and Nationalism (if Edexcel want to screw us over*)
*Subject to personal opinion
(These combinations have only ever come up twice)
Almost 100% sure that there will be a Nationalism question as they have always put the ideology in that they did not include the previous year.

Topics that I think will come up are (3/4 areas to focus on in my opinion):

Multiculturalism:
- Multiculturalism and critiques from other ideologies (this question has NEVER come up as a 45 marker)
- Multiculturalism breeds tension + conflict (Jan 12)
- Multiculturalism + diversity + identity (Jun 11)
- Multiculturalism + unity and cohesion (Jun 10)

Ecologism
- Ecologism + Capitalism (Jan 13)
- Means (and/or Ends?) (Jun 11)

Nationalism
- Single doctrine (June 12)
- Nationalism is Expansionist + Aggressive? (Jan 12)
- Nationalism is backwards - looking/reactionary (Jan 11 (If you reverse this essay you could use it to write a Forward-looking one/progressive one))
- Nationalism and its compatibility with other ideologies

Feminism
- Quest for gender equality (Jun 13)
- More divided than united (Jan 13)
- Single doctrine (Jan 11)

Do you mean nation vs state and how the two terms are confused? Thanks

Do you reckon it's more likely that there will be 2 feminism 15 markers or 2 ecoligism 15 markers ?

Don't worry, I did exactly the same. Also forgot about atomistic society for rationalism question.

As long as you have alternative points, you'll get marks. They don't mark negatively.
