What value did you get for m at the end?

For the median? Something like 1.6.... something

Or for P(over 1.5hrs hmwk) = 5/8

Yes!!! This really got me too, I skipped it and went back at the end. This is what I did (not sure if it's correct)

Using the probabilities calculated in parts i) and ii) I did:

{Amount of money for X=2 (I think £10) × P(X=2)} + {Amount of money for X>2 (I think £25) × P(X>2)}

So that would give you the average profit made, I believe I got £3.39 ish. But since it cost £5 to play, the profit is £5.00 - £3.39 = £1.61

I got £1.70 or something like that, but I've completely forgot how I got it 😂😂😂
Overall I found it a very nice paper
Does anyone have an unofficial mark scheme?

I think it was -5 times P(X<2) + 5 times P(X=2) + 20 times P(X>2).
So was the jack committee one ok with everyone?
Im probably wrong. 1c1x7c2/8c3????

I sort of had an idea that it would be 3/8 anyway because it's just him, but I did do the method you did and got 3/8 anyway.

Any unofficial recommended/suggested answer for expected profit?
I tried using Y=aX+b but that has been used in a previous question.
I worked out that he is expected to hit once tho😂😂
Please explain!
