Just did it too, could not do 10(i) at all!! (apart from the first easy mark).

Now trying to work out how to do it...

I'm on that Q too rn. Gosh, the mark scheme, wth? This paper was utter shambles. Calamity to my head. This paper was awful.

Could anyone explain how to do this question please?

Find the ratio between r and h, given by initial conditions, then sub that in for r and find dv/dh then we know that dv/dt is -1/100 then using chain rule find dh/dt

How do you do the Binomial questions when you estimate the value of something, like June 2013 10ii?

No idea but I think it's usually 0.1, but there must be a method to know which number to put in?
You basically find a value of X to sub in to make the given value, then sub that value of x into the binomial.

Are the people wanting the diff equation explainef still around?

How can you sub it in if theres a non binomial part?

Yes please
Hopefully, it'll be a good exam, i hope
Anyone help with the binomial estimation questions?

I hope this helps guys. Quote me if you need more.

Edit: that V in the top left should be a dv. And the rate of change is negative. But forgive me, im tired.

Can you give an example?

You have x/(1-x)^3

Find a value of x that gives you whatever you need to prove, then sub that same value into the binomial.

First of all you know that that value must be between -1 and 1, as well as positive.

Is there no better/algebraic method other than educated guesses?

I believe No unless you want to solve x/(1-x)^3 =729/100.

Though i just did solved it on my silver calculator.

Try to think what to the power of 3 = 729 (for the bottom of the fraction)

This happens to be 9 - then try to make a multiple of 9 at the bottom. (0.9)
