for Question 6, on the prove that the integral = k (integral) sin^x i got 1/8 (integral) sec^2x.

Where did i go wrong??

and how many marks would i get for part B for carrying the k = 1/8 instead of using k=8?

Lol, lost all 5 marks on that question...shame
Also for the value of lambda that I obtained was 32, I know this is wrong know but everything else I got was correct.
Do you think the error will be carried forward to the next question.

I believe this was the last question on the paper,
Also, can you edit your comment and add: [ /spoiler] (without the space on the second one) around my working out please?
what UMS is 71 or 72 /75 going to be for this?

Interesting.

I wrote because mod l2's direction = 5sqrt2 and we want lengths of +-2sqrt2, then we must multiply the line equation direction by factors of +-2/5

I guess that works aswell? Was you able to get the required answers?

Sorry for the confusion, I meant the lambda value integration question.

Yeah of course. I came out of the exam wondering why that was worth 5 marks

How many marks is q3? Differentiated it right but rearranged it completely wrong and therefore got part b entirely wrong.. how many marks would i lose?
Wasn't the volume question done by finding the volume under the big rectangle and taking it away from the volume under the curve?

Will I get method marks for 8D) (Area question), if i had cos(theta)= -1/5 and that lead to the wrong area?
does anyone have the questions and/or workings|?

for 8a if you write it in vector form u lose the mark because they asked for coordinates
For the last one of last question did people get +- 2/5 for lamda?

thats not true, mark schemes usually accept either.

for Q7(c) I did :

Volume =pi X integral (between 17/2 and 1/2) 8 dx - pi X integral (between 17/2 and 1/2) y^2 dx

So for the volume of the cylinder the limits should have been 17/2 and 0 (not 1/2).
So my answer ended up being :

Volume = 544pi - 32pi - 1024pi/5

How many marks do you think I'll lose.

Overall though paper was decent. Only marks I think I lost were this one and last question on 8

It was odd to say the least.
swear the 8c is 2 rt 2 not 2?
If I put '10 hours and 33 minutes' for question 4, would I get all the marks? Thanks for the unofficial mark scheme by the way- really helpful :smile:

i did but somehow only got one of the coordinates correct.
i got (-1 5 4) and (3 3.4 0.8)

can someone tell me my mistake thx
wait wasnt the ditance 2 root 2 for AP?

Not true, they gave the 'coordinates' of P in column vector form
