Best Degree to get in to the Gaming Industry

Come September Ive got to start to make choices about uni. I would like to work towards a career in programming. Ideally, I would love to work programming games. I did computer Science at GCSE and now at A level. I also teach myself some programming at home and it is something I am really passionate about. Anyway there are quite a lot of IT related degrees and Im not sure which would be the best one for what I want to do. Should I do computer science which would be more general or would I be better choosing something more specific such as artificial intelligence or software development?
Any help would be great thanks!

At most unis you'll see that Software Engineering and Computer Science are broadly the same course - they will likely be identical for the first 1-2 years.

So it's basically preference - either way you'll learn about the fundamentals and then specialise from there - so it's probably worth looking up Uni's you want to go to and then looking at the modules they teach to garner a good understanding of whether or not you'll have the opportunity to learn the right sorts of things after your 1st/2nd year.

Hope this helps!
