This is simply not true, it is the first steps of getting our country back. The pound dropped because investors in the City assumed we would remain in the EU and we took a big hit on equity invested, the pound will go back up, anyway it was dropping weeks before due to the scaremonger and **** your pants campaign delivered by the remain camp. Why are you so anti brexit it will reduce immigration, which will give the NHS more funding per head. Free trade deals without the immigration with many EU countries will be set up- we are in the optimum position we buy more from the EU than what we sell thats why they want to do a deal with us, whatsmore if they want to not do a deal we can whack tariffs on them and they can enjoy it. In 5 years time the EU will be finished, everyone will have trade deals in all countries of the world, looney liberals who only want the immigrants i do not understand, nationalism is on the way up again, the last time that happened was when hitler rose to power to be in the EU you need to follow all the rules they set, there mates are MEP's so they vote for the issues

The delusion is real.

The delusion is real.

The EU is a doomed project though the only thing we got from the EU was restrictions and immigration. We can set up trade deals with any nation we want we buy more exports from the EU than we export to the EU, so for them to close the door on us it will make them worse off. With the single market and currency you will have the poorer countries forever in poverty and the richer countries calling the shots, most of the world hates us and if we build up our army and get assistance from the US we could invade europe and then set up free trade deals with them, we have a unique country, the USA are not even in the EU and they are bigger economically then any country in the EU- in the short term it may have a negative impact but by investing in infrastructure, getting manufacturing back up will improve our exports in real terms we was better off in 1960s then what we are now, thats a fact, we broke even with exports since we joined the EU we have had a trade deficit apart from a brief period between 1976-81 other than that we have been screwed by our trade partners within the EU.
There has been too much emphasis on immigration. Not all those who voted leave voted because of immigration.

Woke up with Brexit...

Markets are falling, Pound is falling to the lowest value in more than 40 years!

Reports say Northern Ireland and Scotland will vote to leave the UK.
Markets will prefer to trade with EU rather than UK and EU already reported they won't negotiate with UK a trade deal because "out means out".

Well done everyone... Well done Brits, today will start the ENGLISH independence day. Good luck with jobs - good luck because we will start getting the jobs the emigrants took, such as construction workers, McDonalds, etc.

Good luck to us all... the future won't be bright and a recession will come.

At least we won't have to continuously rely on immigrants to fund pensions for the elderly now and we can break the chain of a growing elderly population in the future by cutting immigration.

Yeah, who gives a **** about the economy as long as those immigrants are kept out!

You're actually in for a bitter surprise. Immigration will not decrease anywhere as near as Brexiters are hoping

It will decrease anyway. In the EU it would be more visibly worse as the time goes by. Out the EU it will be slower.

Hmmm, don't you think that the older generation have more experience than 18-24 year olds, especially as they have had to go through more hardships and uncertainty than the younger generation could even imagine. And talking about scare tactics the stay campaign was overwhelming in comparison to the leave campaign as regards scare mongering.
Too many people seem to be panicking over an uncertainty that probably they do not even understand.
Also jumping to conclusions about what "might" happen just because of a slump in the value of currency and initial shock throughout the trading areas and business in general.
This will not last long and we now just need to get on with it.
Because regardless of what all the grumpy people are saying (because the vote did not go their way, tough! deal with it!. )
The British people have made their choice and if certain people think that this decision is going to be reversed think again while we remain in a democratic society the vote of the people (majority) is paramount and cannot and should not ever! be overturned because of misguided thoughts and sour grapes
Britain was great and traded with the world long before the common market came into being (now the EU). It appears that the young along with the privileged (along of course with Scotland and Ireland) are those mainly against leaving the EU. They now have to accept a democratic vote. The vote is now cast and the wheels of change should be set in motion as quickly as possible and we all need to relax and get on with it.
Other arguments are that it was the uneducated that mainly voted to leave, I can assure you that is not the case as many thousands of academics and highly intelligent people have also voted to leave! people like myself who are in the top 5% of the academia of this country.

...what?

We'll now have no immigrants (?less immigrants ?no immigrants - no idea what the future will hold at the moment) funding pensions for the elderly. So assuming we lose this percentage of our working population, our taxes will have to go up accordingly in order to sustain both pensions and healthcare for increasing numbers of elderly Brits.

It's not immigrants who are coming here and becoming old, it's British people who are becoming old. Most immigrants go back home in their old age, they come here just to work whilst they are young; especially the European ones we are apparently most fond of booting. Virtually nobody comes here from a European country in order to be economically unproductive.

We're breaking no chains whatsoever. The only chain we're going to have is an ageing population with less and less young people proportionately to fund them.

Ironic that a campaign that ran on the basis that we have no need to listen to experts, who are people with knowledge-based experience in a field, can also try to suggest that people with time-based experience of being on this planet should somehow be listened to!!

You could equally say that the only people with experience of what it is like to grow up in the EU and have the opportunities to go and live and work abroad are the younger generation. If you're talking about experience that comes from simply being alive.

I actually am in favour of knowledge-based experience being taken into account, like economists, analysts so on and so forth. I would listen to what they had to say. And I would listen to anybody who'd informed themselves regardless of age, as to what they had to say. You don't have to be a professional expert, just have read up on stuff to have a discussion and form opinions.

Does simply being X years older make your opinion more informed on the EU, the economy and so on? I honestly don't think that follows.

Considering that England's and Wales' general ideology differs vastly from that of Scotland, it yields great support for the SNP and their campaign of "us socialists vs those tories down South".

Social attitudes polling actually shows a very great deal of political commonality between Scotland and the rest of the UK when you ask people their views on issues. This has been the case for a while and widely commented on.

Scotland votes a different way, but the SNP are the most small-c conservative party in mainstream UK politics. They are not some sort of socialist or radical administration - their main political stances all centre around arguing against the status quo. As such, Scotland is left with public services that have not seen any real degree of reform in (actually well over) a decade. Their arguments on welfare are pretty much to put it back to the pre-2008 position which largely reflects where it was after John Major left office.

The Scottish Parliament is getting huge income tax powers, and yet their response is to raise the higher rate threshold at a slightly slower pace than is happening in England. Their response to complete control over council tax is to adjust the multipliers slightly for some bands. The only really clear policy they've crafted on social security is to raise Carer's Allowance a little and to abolish the "bedroom tax". This isn't socialism, it's not even left-wing - it's just conservative.

Tell me I am not the only one who, regardless of my age, sex, race and the side I was backing in the vote accepts what has happened as is now trying to make the best of an uncertain situation. To title the thread "UK is destroyed" is in itself a bold and certainly untrue statement (for the present anyhow). We had a democratic vote, one side won and one side lost. As has been said multiple times, there are negatives to the outcome, no doubting and arguing that. But hey-ho, its the hand we have been dealt with.

And I swear to god, if I see anyone else that sits there and says that the older generations have ruined it for this generation I think I will just delete every social media and forum account I own. IT'S A DEMOCRACY. No persons vote is worth less than any others. How dare you sit there and say that older people have less of a right to say what happens in this country than we do because "they wont live for as long". THAT IS NOT THE POINT. Most have put more into this country than any of the younger generation has till now. I am just utterly fed up of all this bickering. IT has happened. Whether you or I like it. We just have to accept that and make the best of it regardless of who voted for what and why. Because tbh it really does not matter what you voted for or your reasons. What matters is we make the best of it and carry on working hard for the good of ourselves and our country. So please, stop.

Doesnt mean we have to or should stop talking about it. There is consierable scope for debate on what the terms of Brexit will or should be. The thread was a week old.

Debating it wont help us at the moment. In fact the negotiations with the Eu have not even begun yet. Debating this is not getting anyone anywhere.

So according to you we shouldnt be allowed to discuss it on a discussion forum.

Think I will pass on that.

I did say you shouldn't. I am saying its not getting anyone anywhere is it? I can understand reasonable and rational arguments on both sides. But half of what has been posted has not been rational or reasonable, so please continue if you must as you seem to want to continue debating with anyone regardless of what they say.
So please, if you must "pass on that" thats cool, you can say what you want. even if it serves no purpose at present.

Thank you for your permission. It means a lot.

Others are perfectly entitled to discusscurrent events and the potential implications. You are one of the ones who helped keep this thread alive, when it had pretty much died, so its a bit rich.

Perhaps you should request to be made a mod so you can control what everyone else talks about as well.
NO doubt the OP is a non-Brit European so of course she would say that, an opinion that worth about as much as the remain campaign .... lol.
