Please may someone explain question 3b (the circle one) to me
Original post by TheSammy2010
My answers, idk if they are right

Q1,
Mean= 1.41
Variance= 1.4419
Probabilities; 0.7769, 0.1378, 0.1516

Q2,
N=60
0.0133
0.0159
Do not reject Ho (using binomial tables)

Q3,
0.75
151π/3

Q4,
K=1/9

Q5,
N=225

Q6,
P(M=5)= 0.3
P(M=6)= 0.29
P(M=7)= 0.12

N=11

Q7,

Mean= 1.2
Var= 1.92
P(X>3)= 0.3250
£41.88 per bin

He shouldn't as the mean profit of bins would be £40

For q3, wasn't it 49π? E(X)=5+9/2=7E(A)= πr^2= 49π

No, you had to use E (R^2), by doing variance + mean squared, then times your answer by pi
Original post by NamelessPersona
I wouldn't think so but I'm not entirely sure

Edit: oops misread what you rounded to, yeah I think you would lose a mark

Thanks, no idea how I managed it!
A=(pi)(r^2)
So find E(r^2) and times by pi

I just took a SS of my answers in word - I can't figure out how to formatt on this reply box! XD Here is a neater version of what I wrote - Please Tell Me if I got any wrong.Answers.png

I think the mean in Q1 was 1.41 and I can't remember what I got for 3c, but the rest was the same I think.

Edit: Got the same for 3c, i just left it in terms of pi
I also messed up k, by forgetting that a was multipied by 3, so I got 1/33 instead.

The mean was 1.41 not 1.44 but I agree with everything else.

Whoops yeah I wrote 1.41 IDK this document I wrote 1.44 aha - so 100%? I need 91/100 UMS for an A*

Question 2 the hypothesis test was 0.2236 which is more than 0.01 therefore accept null hypothesis

Question 3 it was 0.5 not 0.75

Question 4 n was 57

Rest are right

I got 0.2236 for the actual test but i put the probabilities for the previous parts as well
Can anyone explain me how to find k value? Somehow I managed to prove b=8 but I couldn't find k value funny

F(3) = 1
F(2) = 0
Use simultaneous eqns
What does everyone think 90 ums will be?

What were questions 1c-E?

Oh...!!!!! Now I feel like an idiot it was actually very simple! :0 Thanks
I made up the value for a in Q4, will I get follow through marks for working out K?

We also know that P(X<2)=0, so instead of F(3)=1, I used F(1)=0 and got the wrong "a" and "k" :frown:

Dont worry I messed up on it and forgot to multiply my a by 3, only realised 10 mins after exam
Does anyone remember how many marks the area of the circle question was??
