The Cambridge maths department is too busy to mark the STEP papers, as they are frantically trying to help the Bank of England sort out all the economic fallout from the Brexit. Results day is therefore postponed indefinitely

God damn Remainers..

Jk, ready for part IA lad? Starting V&M today after (of course) watching GoT.

I've still got an exam tomorrow (D2 :puke: ), but I can't wait to start on some of IA

Lol I haven't ever watched a single episode of GoT

Have all your favourite characters died yet?

I want to say that I am gonna wait for you to start part IA but it would be a lie. Every man for himself.

You haven't seen any of GoT? You're a joke m8.

Lol, Dany is never gonna die! You should start watching GoT, it is really god damn good. Through sheer will power I actually managed not to watch any GoT Season 6 during exam period. Watching the first episode right after I come back home though.

At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, mathmos will awake to life and freedom.

But more with tears and screams

Lol.

So we register for results in 5 days? Wasn't there some kind of bug with registering very early?

We still have Discrete Mathematics, which looks pretty similar to Numbers and Sets in the Maths course.

sin x > x/(pi/2) for 0<x<pi/2 (easy to justify with a graph)

Result follows

Thanks. I dont know what i was thinking, trying to overcomplicate a straight forward problem.

Thanks. I dont know what i was thinking, trying to overcomplicate a straight forward problem.

A slightly more intuitive approach:

A acutesin2A>01+sin2A=(sinA+cosA)2>1sinA+cosA>1A\ \mathrm{acute} \Rightarrow \sin2A>0 \Rightarrow 1+\sin2A=(\sin A+\cos A)^2>1 \Rightarrow \sin A+\cos A>1.

Also CC is acute, so A+B>π2B>π2AA+B>\dfrac{\pi}{2} \Rightarrow B>\dfrac{\pi}{2}-A.

Therefore
sinA+sinB+sinC=sinA+sinB+sin(π(A+B))[br]=sinA+sinB+sin(A+B)>sinA+sin(π2A)+sinπ2[br]=sinA+cosA+1>2 as required.\sin A+\sin B+\sin C=\sin A+\sin B+\sin(\pi-(A+B))[br]=\sin A+\sin B+\sin (A+B)>\sin A+\sin(\dfrac{\pi}{2}-A)+\sin\dfrac{\pi}{2}[br]=\sin A+\cos A+1>2\ \mathrm{as\ required.}

EDIT: Nvm there's a mistake here, cbb to correct.
