Why do women worry about walking alone at night but not men?

The main reason I'm not scared to walk home at night is because like most men* I have a plan for when I'm attacked .

And a few years ago I put it into action and it worked like a dream!!

As I was walking past a dark side road a few minutes from my house at midnight two young men with a fierce looking dog approached and told me they had a gun and a knife and that I should hand over all my money.

Now I strongly suspected that they probably didn't have a gun or even a knife cos if they did why not show me the gun if they had a gun or if they had a knife why not show that instead of mentioning guns. But unluckily for me I was carrying £4000 in cash for a very important reason and I couldn't afford to lose it.Also did I mention the dog ?

So I immediately put my plan into action.

I said ok no problem, put my hand into my jeans took out about £200 threw it on the ground........(that was improvised of course)

Then I ran into the front garden we were in front off ,picked up a rock that I'd already spotted from the streetlight, threw it through the front window, dropped my trousers and started screaming ,Heeeeellllllpppp RAPE!! RAPE !!! in as high a voice as I could muster.

This succeeded in getting the attention of the couple who lived in the house and they phoned the police. Meanwhile the two culprits took my cash and ran away.

Not sure if this would work for women though.

* don't they?

I lived in a pretty dodgy area for the majority of my life and had things happen to me at night whilst it wasn't that late and the area was well lit (even had things happen during the day although these were viewed differently). Even though I now live in nicer area I'm still not keen on the idea of walking by myself at night.

Like I said and you conveniently cropped it out: sheltered. How do you know? Just how? lmao how do you know what muggers do?! How many people do you know have been hospitalised almost killed for getting poked in the back with a blade and their lungs almost collapsing, mind their own business beforehand? You don't know any do you. Lucky you yea but you don't know wtf you're on about. People are violently attacked for minding their business and a madman walked by and preemptively whacked em and walked off. I was! Walking home by myself and SWEAR to you I got tapped on the shoulder, asked a question and looked away and next I know I can't see. Check into ER they tell me I've got a hyphema and could go ****ing blind. I didn't react violently because I wasn't approached violently. But it ended violently. Because they made up their mind they wanted to attack someone. Apparently the lad didn't liek me and thought I nicked his bird. We had never spoken before though. And I know this has happened to other people, just randomly attacked. And you say "leave you alive" lol maybe that's an American term or something or just you personally talking rubbish but where I'm from people get left for dead, not left alive! ANYWAY EVERYONE is vulnerable to being attacked whether mugged or rapped or violently by a madman. Man, woman, child, elderly, small, big, tough, coward, poor, rich. And it's all horrible. So don't sit there typing it's only horrible for a certain group and a certain type of attack?! Live a little, learn a little. Eugh.
I never said that there weren't madmen. But all I know here the advice the police give people is not to resist, because they probably just want your money. Unless you're unlucky enough to be a woman or encounter a gay criminal. But they still don't recommend resisting even in that case.

Statistics back this up. In the US, you're a lot more likely to be robbed than murdered. The majority of people lying in wait for you at night are thieves driven to crime by desperation or greed. A madman can kill you in the daytime just as easily as he can at night.

It won't work for anyone because if they actually did have a gun they'd shoot you and you'd never even get to pulling your pants down. Most people wouldn't take risk to antagonise their assailant. No idea why you threw the cash if you had a foolproof plan to cry rape. Also it's not cool to cry rape. And no idea why they'd stick around after you gave em the cash pretty willingly. The story should've ended at you throwing the cash. :erm:

As for women trying this, they're most likely not strong enough to fight the attacker off and the cowards know it. But it's worth a ****ing try you'd think.

Lol **** your wikipedia link mate

And did you just say "gay" criminal? ONCE AGIAN YOU'RE ONLY FOCUSING ON RAPE ATTACKS and STILL seem to let the concept of being violently mugged or approached in a fight FLY OVER YOUR almost 30 YR OLD HEAD. You know what maybe you've been watching too much porn and can't get your mind off sex so you can only think about rape.

Well there are a few things there.

If a woman is attacked then it's up to her to decide whether to scream or not. And what to scream. But I believe that shouting rape is more likely to get someone to phone the police than just screaming.

As for the order of things I didn't know my plan was 'foolproof' did I ?

Throwing down £200 was a way of keeping them occupied while I got a few seconds to get away.

The main part was breaking the window of the nearest house.

Obviously, if all I had was £200 on me ,and if I could afford to lose it,I'd have just handed it over and then just knocked on the door of the house when they went.

But there was NO WAY they were getting the £4000 . I would definitely have risked my life at that particular point in my life.

Just curious as to why people have this belief.

The reason people would be worried is because of the number of victims, so, when we look at victims, we see that around 33% of violent crime victims are female.

Women are half as likely to be attacked on the street as men, so why do people think this way?

The problem is you're looking at statistics for all violent crimes - this is completely inappropriate. It doesn't support your conclusion - just because more men are involved in violent crime, generally, doesn't mean that more men than women are attacked on the streets.
I actually do worry about getting attacked or assaulted. Women are generally physically inferior to men and most attackers are men.
Because if someone came after me I'd rekt him, not sure if many women would doe...

Probably a strength thing. I am a man with the frame of a child and never had a proper fight in my life so I am pretty uncomfortable walking alone at night lel.

Ok 1st off yea screaming is stupid. Trust me they're on edge and use weapons as intimidation initially even though many times they come to use it in panic or ruthlessness. So startling them they'll use the weapon. Also self defense experts preach to never antagonise someone with a weapon or an assailant even without a weapon. It's just stupid. I know you were tryna be funny but that's stupid advice no one should try.

2ndly, you're presenting it like it is yes foolproof. If you didn't think it wasn't a good idea/foolproof, then why'd you post it...

Don't get me started on your fanciful and if real foolish claims of vandalism.

Keeping them "occupied?" Lol they wanna mug you, not have a conversation. There's realistically no reason nor time to try to keep them "occupied." Once they get the money they would clear out, walking backwards making sure you're stood there, and then they take off. They're not orcs from Lord of the Rings standing guard at a tower to be kept "occupied." They're muggers with one clear quick goal which you made easy when you supposedly threw 200 quid at their feet. Carrying 4k around oh yea I forgot about that part mostly because I barely believed it. Unless you owe a bookie or a dealer cash there's no need or sense to carry around 4k. Maybe a money order for 4k. But don't bother backpedaling about that now. Here's a final note: don't scream, don't throw a ****ing rock, and don't take the piss in a discussion about safety.

I guess when you grow up hearing about women getting raped when walking home after a night out that has some affect on you. It's nothing to be disdainful about, and it's definitely nothing to ridicule and blame women for.

I understand your logic but it's time to prove this with research

Erm I'm going from my own experience. I can't refer to other people. This is more than about being bullied. :colonhash:

"Erm" nothing. Being bullied is the same in regards to being randomly attacked. So again I ask you, what about physically inferior men who get attacked? Or are you just gonna cry about being a female.

Wtf nah you made the claim! All you gotta do is google "do men get attacked more than women?" Or google "attacks on men", then "attacks on women." Or keep posting **** without evidence, but I'm willing to believe that statement you made.
