How to tell friend I can't go to their birthday celebration?

Hi thanks for reading.

Tonight is one of my best friends 18th birthday and we were going to go clubbing but about an hour ago I sprained my ankle. It's swollen as anything so can't really go clubbing! Basically what's the kindest way to tell my friend I can go? I feel really guilty bailing last minute :frown:

Many thanks.
Just tell them you sprained your ankle
"I can't go to your birthday celebration."

Damn you TSR. Next thing you know, people will be asking how to tie their shoes.

"I'm not going to be able to come 'cause I've sprained my ankle and can't walk properly"

There's honestly no need to be precious about it. If she's a true friend, she'd rather you tell her the truth last minute that not show up at all with no explanation
