Private student halls

Hey everyone;

I'm starting my masters in Durham this year and was wondering if anyone had views/opinions on staying in private halls? or if anyone has booked a room in them previously or for this year?
I only decided recently to accept my offer for Durham so I'm assuming most of the college accommodations will be full and I'm assuming in studios within private halls there's a greater level of privacy than sharing a flat ( which I guess might be needed especially when I'd have no idea who my flatmates would be)

The main ones I was looking at were:The Village @ the Viaduct - http://www.universalstudentliving.com/properties/durham/ .
St Giles Studios- http://www.crm-students.com/crm-accommodation/durham/st-giles-studios/ .
Chapel Heights- http://www.chapelheights.co.uk/

So if anyone has any views at all, let me know! Oh and any other postgraduates feel free to message me if you want to get to know someone before you arrive :smile:

I was looking for private accommodation and decided to go with St Giles Studios. Same reason as yours since I will be doing my PhD at Durham and St Giles looks nicer than the other two (and also cheaper if you are on a 51-week lease).

I visited the place and it is still in construction. The manager said it should be completed by the end of this month. They have a marketing suite there and it looks just as good as the pictures. So I firmed my choice after the visit.

Hope it helps!
