I'm just going to take some trainers for sportswear. I doubt they will be asking for much more than that. It will probably just be activities like football, etc.

Okay good haha hope so, i was kind of panicking that they'd have us doing loads of sports because im not really the sporty type

Has anyone else received the email with a list of things to bring? I haven't got one yet should I be worried? I'm slightly concerned they have not got my consent forms etc that I sent off because I haven't got any conformation they have been received has anyone else?

I didn't get any confirmation but I have received the email, you could email them and make sure they have your form and check your junk inbox maybe?

Me neither! I'm guessing the activities will be optional. (I hope).
Hi guys, I'm on my last night of a 4-day summer school at Queen's University Belfast (which is a wonderful place), and next month (24-28) I'll be at Lancaster to study economics.

Of course, the programmes will differ, but I thought that my experience at QUB might give you an insight as to what to expect at Lancaster.

The first night, we came into the accommodation, before piling into the main university building for a massive curry, where people got to know each other a bit.

The second, third and fourth days were spent in lectures and workshops, followed by on the Monday a quiz night plus some free time, on the Tuesday a night in the university sports centre plus some free time, and on the Wednesday a full night of free time where we enjoyed and mourned our last night as a group.

The QUB summer school is considerably smaller (3 subjects, each with ~35 students) than the Lancaster one will be, but quickly people formed friendship groups (and created facebook group chats). Everyone will be intending to stay in touch.

The summer school has been a great experience; the Lancaster summer school has much to live up to.

Just got an email from Lancaster telling us what we need to bring, what is everyone bringing for sportswear? And what do you reckon we'll be doing?

Hey, I received an email, rejection basically, and now received email saying where I could find the coach. Would you have any clue what to do?

I'd just phone up Lancaster outreach and see what they have to say, hope that helps

I personally didn't like the summer school. For one they were so unorganised, they hadn't gotten the travel arrangements done proeprly. They had declined my friends from the summer school but then two or three days before the date they changed their minds giving them an invite to come which built to the confusion. When we had gotten there the student ambassador said didn't even know where our accommodation was and so we ended up walking up and down in the rain. And at one point we stood in the outside bin shelter because we had no idea where to go. Also activities to get to know each other was limited. Only the first night provided that whilst the rest of the time we were stuck with out subject group, only being with other people during quiz night or during sports. Even the last night, which would have been a potential good day was partly ruined by almost 75% of people going off to watch football instead of socialising and having a laugh.

You have access to the gym on one night when it is your social activity but it isn't really the gym you use because you choose the sport you want to do out of like badminton, football, squash etc. but you cant use the gym. Half the summer school will use it at the same time as you with the other half using it as their social activity for the next night and if you want to can do sports for both nights, some people did that when i went. And the mexican party turned out to be a hog roast and that was pretty much it, so don't worry about mexican themed things as nobody brought any anyway.
Some people wore dresses to the party but most were just wearing jeans. Hope that helps
