You guys obviously didn't read her campaign speech, she said something to the effect of - there would be no wriggling out of controlling the number of people coming from Europe.

Nobody can possibly predict what deal she may or may not get. If the EU doesn't want to play ball, then who says we'll get any deal beyond that which had been offered already?


They have said we can have access to the single market only if we keep free movement. The PM would have to be crazy to turn that down

This seems to be the popular sentiment amongst vocal Remainers and it's a shame because it's one born of ignorance.

It suggests a world view in which the UK could barely rub two pence together without the sheltering wing of the EU and single market.


All it takes is a quick googling to see it's the Eurozone that's struggling, and the UK is perfectly capable of surviving adrift on the seas of global commerce and prosperity as the rest of the world does.

There's no excuse for being that misinformed and misguided. :s-smilie:

Completely agree.

There are 160 countries in the world that are not part of the EU...

Many of them have seen much better growth than the sluggish efforts we've seen from the EU over the last 10 years. In fact, many economies in the EU are on the brink of or in full-blown disaster. Greece, with Italy and Spain being ticking timebombs.

The idea of the EU as some sort of stable economic place is just bizarre and I'm not sure where it's come from. It's stable in the sense 'we know it' but not really in any other sense.

Only this is a negotiation, it's not up to her to dictate the terms of the agreement.

UK needs to set up alternate trade deals with other countries now, this will leave the EU with less bargaining chips when it comes to the Brexit negotiations.

Ofc she will do it, she has already confirmed that. The devils is in the detail though. Brexiters might not get the deal they imagines, but tbf the referendum was just about leaving and not on what terms.

They do , although they may differ and what they wanted may well be undeliverable. One of the reasons they were always hard to pin down on the specifics, but still liked to make claims.

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. I was suggesting from the start that her speech implies that we must control/reform the current free movement.

I never suggested the opposite.

There is no mandate for anything other than leaving the EU. There is no mandate for merging with Russia either but the Referendum doesn't rule it out.
