Do most people buy tickets for events before they arrive?

Just worried that if I buy a ticket for something and then everyone I meet is going to some other event what do I do?

I'm in an inter-collegiate hall as well if that makes a difference.

It really depends on the person. Tickets may still be available closer to the time, but they may be more expensive. Maybe see what people are doing on the Facebook group for your university?
