Guys, what do you think of baristas?

As in the people that work in coffee shops - do you think most of the girls are pretty? Do you associate the job with mostly attractive females?

You seem quite bitter. Did a polish woman turn you down?
There aren't just working class women working at coffee shops..also UK students.

Very few ordinary english women work in Costa these days. Everywhere you go its some Spaniard, Brazilian or Pole. So many businesses and employers are anti-english, and lets face it the customers tend to like their bar stuff to be simple sluts rather than support their own people...but there yer go.

Yeah cuz perhaps that's a job just like thousands of other jobs in this country that your "own" worker wants to skip to become a teen mum and go on benefits while the Polish "sluts" works her butt off to make her life better and of those around her.

Its not its coz very often companies only hire internally among their own. I used to work at Pizza Express and it was rampant for the Romanian/Polish manager to just hire a relative of one of the other polish staff. The average Tracey has no chance.
Mostly pretty unskilled workers, and most are foreign. I had one that I could not understand at all so I had to get someone else it was pretty annoying

Yeah and I wonder why the management picked up a Romanian or a Polish over that Tracey to begin with

Oh so on top of stealing our jobs bloody immigrants are even establishing businesses in our great country? That's terrible. Glad we've decided to exit that nasty European Union. That will surely put an end to our pains.

There aren't exactly many British people working in european cafes, supermarkets or restaurants. Most of eastern europe is ethno culturally homogenous; in fact central asian tradesman are often physically attacked by polish football hooligans. Most Slavs are total hypocrites on the immigration front anyway as they are regularly racist to black immigrants in this country (you would think that they would have an affinity with other 2nd/3rd worlders especially an ex socialist mindset but no). Ordinary Brits are quite justified in saying these people should be politely shown the door.

Because British people couldn't even get a job in a foreign supermarket because they're generally crap at languages.

Oh wait, apart from all the English-owned businesses on the Costa del Sol and in Cyprus who fill up their employment ranks with English people who don't even speak Spanish or Greek. Same people whose kids attend British schools and never learn the language of where they live. There are over 53 British schools in Spain (just the ones registered with the NABS). Imagine if there were over 53 Spanish-curriculum schools in the UK that taught only in Spanish and served a Spanish community who shopped in Spanish shops, worked in Spanish businesses and only had Spanish friends. There'd be an uproar.

When people from other countries go abroad, they're immigrants. When British people go abroad, we're 'expats'. I think that says it all.

Ngl, I associate the job with 'actors'/'actresses' who are between jobs. Or students putting themselves through uni. Nothing really about attractiveness or unattractiveness. Plus my stereotypical barista'd be a guy rather than a girl.
