Should I volunteer in the hospice?

I'm not sure if I put this in the right section but whatever - I have a dilemma.

I want to apply to do medicine and I managed to secure some voluntary work at a hospice. However, I can't start until after I attend all the training days which are in late spetember which means I probably won't be able to write about it in my personal statement.

So the question is - should I take up the voluntary role in the hospice bearing in mind I will have to do it for at least six months and I already have done some volunteering at a deaf specialist primary school. I'm being indecisive in case I don't get a place in a medical school this time and need to reapply - by that point I would've done a year in the hospice and is a backup.

Oh and the volunteering entails mundane things like replacing the water, cleaning tables but does involve interacting with patients at the end of their lives.

100% Take the hospice experience, get your referee to mention that you are taking up more voluntary work to show commitment to the profession and then mention it at interview if anything about voluntary work is brought up.

I was in your position and I chose to take the opportunity, I couldnt write about it in my personal statement but my referee mentioned it and it was invaluable to mention at interview! you may not feel like it will helo you in this admissions cycle but if you get to the interview stage by applying smart it will help you more than you think as you will be more experienced and it will show more commitment to the career.
