Definitely. There could be an incredibly troublesome power dynamic. You may not like to admit it, but a sixteen year old can easily be taken advantage of by an adult.

I know this guy , and we really get along and he's asked me on a date. But it's the age difference that puts me off. I do really like him though
(age/2)+7 is the rule.

If he is a good guy, cares for you and makes you happy then I don't see the problem. My sister-in-law and brother have a 5 years age gap as well.
I had a relationship with the same age gap and it did fail after 3 or 4 months
but part of it was that she moved away

I started drinking a few months after I turned 16
My friend (16) actually dated a 21 yr old for a while but it didn't work out well
Nothing wrong with a 5 year age gap when you're both adults. A 16 year old is not an adult, and personally i think any 21 year old who wants to date a 16 year old is probably only doing so because they cant get anyone their own age and are preying on the younger's naivety.

Damn, that must be tough. Our drinking age is 13...if you're bold, but 16 for mild alcohols.
