It's because your device is an older one, and won't be able to handle the game properly. It's unfortunate, but it's not their fault; not anybody's fault.

It's definitely a novelty. It isn't exactly a game you play to have massive amounts of fun in my opinion, but it can be nice to just open it every so often in the hopes of finding a pokemon. If you like the series, then download it, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it, it can also be a good way to meet people, also.

Ive got a samsung galaxy s5 why cant I play. Ive got the memory and the right OS for it too.

To be fair, it was a game expecting to be of moderate popularity targeting the hardcore pokemon fans that has become bigger than Twitter and Facebook in just a few days. Give them some time!
