Year 3 Subjects/ Disseration Advise

Hey guys

Subjects advise and dissertation topic/ title

Firstly I need advice on which subjects to choose

Choice between Company law or Immigration law
Choice between Evidence or Jurisprudence or Family law


Secondly what area to choose for dissertation i.e contract law

I can't give you advise on anything other than you should pick the ones that sound the most interesting to you. Have you thought about what kind of law you'd like to focus or specialise on after u graduate if you decide to pursue a Law career?

As for the dissertation, you should really pick a topic that you wouldn't mind spending an entire year on. You do not what to wait all day for an idea to come to mind.

How about thinking of a tutor you most like or you've enjoyed their lectures from day 1 at uni? Maybe you can have a chat with them and ask if they wouldn't mind helping you to formulate some kind of idea or topic to go away and research before you narrow it down?

All I would suggest is you think long and hard about what your dissertation will be about. But it's a bit disheartening that you have not come up with ANY ideas so far.

Also, talk to some of your course mates and that way you can bounce off ideas. Even talking to friends about their dissertations even if it's different subjects. You can still bounce ideas off. For example, a friend of mine who does Biology is look at some kind of animal's penis bone. That gave me an idea to perhaps look at The Philosophy of Sex and Sexuality [in Victorian Literature]. So talking it out with your friends and coursemates, can really inspire your own thinking!
