Would you say Butler Court is known as a sociable hall? and how far is it from the School of Arts?
Thanks,
Amy

Hello Amy,

In what way do you mean sociable? From my experience it depends on what accommodation you apply for/ get given. Shared rooms are normally occupied by first years, so you find that majority do go out quite regularly (this is excluding social events organised by the hall). With the large/deluxe rooms are mostly filled up with returners who go out alot less, from my own experience from being in a large ensuite room, half of my flat was freshers and half was returners. For the first term I was going out 4 times a week but also socialising with different blocks in our hall.

I'm not too sure about location with school of art, one of they girls on my floor is doing a foundation degree in art and she has said that most lectures are extremely close by.

Hope this helps

Is it really necessary to get accommodation that is close to your lecture halls? I'm applying for psychology, but I have no idea what halls are near the psychology lecture halls? Which halls would you recommend?

To be honest mate it won't make much difference, some courses like arts, design and engineering you have to go to specialist building and it just makes it easier for you if its close by. With Psychology because you will have mainly lectures you could be dotted around campus.

Remember that I'm the from Butler Court, so I'm naturally going to say the best place to go is my hall. But every hall will cater for what your looking for.

In terms of stereotypes I can tell you that Butler Court doesn't really have a stereotype, only a few halls do (i.e. People who live in Elyvn Richards are known for being rich/posh). But I would say that no hall on campus is 'racist', we has a university are very inclusive.

Hello,

If I'm being honest, It all depends on the catchment of incoming freshers, e.g a IMS Football team who won the league could be bottom next year if there fresher intakes is poor. I know on a fact they this year our hall has a very active IMS Football team, we have 4 committee dedicated to IMS sports, 2 captains running to two IMS football teams and plus we have a block dedicated to high performance sports.

I hope this helps. Here is a link to our IMS football group on Facebook.

The biggest stereotype is that everyone is sporty. We also take the piss out of them cause they have a couple of shared rooms.

Hi, Ryan
Gonna be in Butler's court this year in a shared ensuite. Wanna ask about when can I know about information of my roommate and any chance are there for talking to my roommate before fresher weeks?
Also is it possible to bring more electrical kitchen appliance (like rice cooker, blender, juicer, pressure cooker, etc) to the shared kitchen?
Plus, I am really looking forward to fresher week! What kinds of things are we gonna do?

Hello,
It might be a good idea to add me on Facebook, www.facebook.com/Ryangs
Sadly you won't be able to find out who you are living with till your arrive date. The warden team only get the final names of who is confirmed a week before freshers arrive, and within that week they work really hard to match you up with someone suitable.

In terms of kitchen appliances, rice cooker must be purchased in the uk and have a CE mark. Blenders and juicer should be fine, I'm not sure about the pressure cooker though. Please message the campus living team and they can let you know more.

Haha, I can honestly say you will love your freshers week, but I can't tell you anything about what is going to happen till our freshers theme reveal.

Much love
Ryan
