Graduate salaries

Hi everyone
I'm trying to do a bit of research into what graduate schemes are paying in the North West

Please would anyone mind sharing their knowledge with me?
Thanks very much
Kate
It is a rather broad question and is based on the industry you are applying for and the company you will work at. Also, don't forget, small employers also employ graduates. It isn't just the big boys.

Good luck!

It all depends on the industry and company offering the jobs. I would recommend trying to Google them around the area you want. Some industries, like technology - computer science, offer 24k graduate jobs while others may barely give 15k
Depends on the industry, and size of the company.

For example, I came across one company offering £21000 in and another offering £30000 up north. (For accounting grad schemes). And similar differences elsewhere in the country.

So it really can vary.
Location is a huge factor. I am assuming that North West salaries will be lower than those in London, though relatively higher in cities such as Manchester than the rest of the north. A lot of people I know move to London though end up back up north because life in the 'Big Smoke' wasn't all that it was cracked up to be (high rents, long working hours, not much time to socialise, being lonely, etc). Cities like Manchester, Glasgow, Liverpool and Leeds are perfect sizes for me.

If you're lower on the ladder (which as a grad you probably are) you might have to accept anything before you can get further.

Also don't just look at the big boys. Everyone flocks to them. Check for the smaller organisations, though be very careful about getting involved with start-ups (a lot of them don't even last a year).

Thanks everyone.

As alot of graduate schemes aren't open at the moment it's hard getting the info I'd like on the websites because theyre not live.

I'm looking for the them in the North West area across all specialisms really as part of my research.
Thanks

That's a pretty poor way to target your applications.

Stick to one or two disciplines across a range of companies, applying to everything under the sun will get you nowhere very fast.

I'm not applying for every discipline, this is just research for a project I'm doing not personal applications

There's many recruitment sites with regional filters eg
Indeed.co.uk
Glassdoor.co.uk

And then use that to check websites for individual employers schemes

Although if you are a researcher you should know these already...

Check out:

individual employer websites
indeed

Law firms tend to be very open about their salaries too, so check their websites.
