Ways to keep in contact while abroad

I'm going on holiday for 2 weeks and wont have reliable wifi/data nor will I be able to text.

Does anyone how I can stay in contact with someone in the UK?

And no, I wont be writing letters or using carrier pidgeons :colonhash:
contact through each other's heart :cute:
Telepathy. Works for me. :u:
Buy a local SIM card if your phone is unlocked

Some companies also offer services where you can rent a portable wifi box

Where are you going? Touristy destinations are bound to have WiFi hotspots around the city, so I wouldn't count that out.

Rhodes, that's true but I'd like something a bit more consistent
Pigeon. Semaphore. Smoke signals. You've got loads of other options.

Well surely if you're on holiday that's all you need? I'd rather not want to pay extra because I wanted to text people all day. All you gotta do is when you get back to the hotel or when you're in a restaurant, connect to the wifi and message them. I also wouldn't want to be texting non-stop while on holiday. It's not really my idea of a relaxing break, all i do is text when I find WiFi

Most phone companies have feel at home deals, maybe try one of those?

If my work experience has taught me anything, it's that pregnant women shouldn't walk down stairs. Why not just send a postcard?
I know you said you would think be writing letters but just so you know you cans end them for free within Europe by writing STS (student to student) in place of a stamp. I haven't tried it myself but my flatmate says she is always exchanging postcards and letters with her long distance boyfriend this way.

Lebara SIM cards allow you to make cheap calls abroad. At the moment, Tesco Mobile allow you to call text and use data within the European Union at the same price as at home.

Otherwise you will just have to keep in contact with this person if and when you have Internet, as unreliable as that is!
