Well, there's always valium. Or xanax. Talk to your doctor about diazepam *serene voice straight from an american pharmaceutical ad*. GPs are unlikely to prescribe it though, unless your persuasive skills are excellent. Or you can just. YOU KNOW. There's a will, there's a way.

why valium?

For anxiety. He mentioned being scared for no reason etc. I think it would be really helpful, at least until he can figure something out.
Everyone hears voices in their head, studies show this, it's not unusual

I thought it was the other person in the thread saying he's scared not the OP.....

There's a massive difference between what schizophrenics experience when hearing voices and 'hearing some random occasional voices'. You shouldn't really make statements like that. Not saying OP is schizophrenic, just in general

He said this in his first post: ' Also I've been really angry and scared for no reason. I just wake up mad and scared. '

Oh come on, you can't be serious. Are you one of those conspiracy theorists or something? Well, maybe because, when you have schizophrenia, the voices can drive you to kill/hurt yourself/others, or at least experience severe distress because sometimes you can't even tell the difference between what's real and what isn't?
ok dis schizophrenia

Psychotic disorders often cause fear and anger. Whereas I'd say that he'd be more likely to know why if it was anxiety. I'm not saying he has schizophrenia but I'd probably hold off on the valium until he has more idea what he's dealing with.

Yeah, maybe he should. Who knows. Still, why bother tormenting yourself with stress and anxiety when you don't have to.

You don't have to be schizophrenic to hear voices. I'm not, and I hear them.

OP, I would suggest going to your GP. Perhaps do as TLG suggested, making a diary and noting down when you hear them etc, and show this to your GP. Hearing voices is abnormal, but I thought it was perfectly normal until I was put into the mental health services.

don't be scared, the experts are not judgemental. it could just be nothing but if it is something they can help you overcome it. someone in my family heard voices so he's got an expert team dealing with, they really are a God-send. amazing people, don't get enough credit for what they do for a living.

Well whenever I am around people I think I hear voices telling me to leave. I have never liked being around people but recently it's getting worse and worse. I don't know if I actually hear stuff or I am just making it up. Also I've been really angry and scared for no reason. I just wake up mad and scared. I don't have a close relationship with anyone and it's kinda embarrassing as well. I am scared of talking to someone about this.

Just because you're hearing voices doesn't mean you have a mental health problem; for some people it is their subconscious communicating with them. I have the same issue half the time - the psychiatrist I saw called them hypnogogic hallucinations. I know just how scary it feels, but don't worry. With your voices telling you not to do stuff you hate, I suspect it is just your subconscious.

Hi. I think it is really important to go and see your GP and explain everything. Then if need be you can be referred on. The reason I am saying this is because I was diagnosed with Social Phobia when I was 28. I am now 48. The psychiatrist told me the condition could have been treated if I had gone to him earlier. [I think I developed it around age 15]. But he said it should have been treated while I was still in my late teens and early twenties when my brain was still developing. He said as a 28 year old my personality was set and there was nothing he or anybody could do to help me. He said I will have the condition for the rest of my life, which I do have. I was the only dancer at the Moulin Rouge in Paris who used to go straight home at 3 in the morning after the show. Everyone else used to go over the road to an all night cafe and chill and socialise. I did once. I hated every moment of it and couldn't wait to leave. But I didn't know at the time I was different. I just thought I was shy. I don't know how old you are, but if it is a condition that can be treated ,from what the psychiatrist told me, there is only a few years this can be done, if it is anything like Social Phobia and the way it affects the brain. Don't leave things too late like I did. Good luck !!

Complete ********. Phobias are potentially curable even in old people.
