The Conservatives take a 16 point lead in the polls

The recent polls show that the Conservative Party are leading in the election polls by a margin of 16 percentage points, while Labour are polling at their lowest recorded level since the height of the recession in 2008.

There might be even more to worry about for Labour as well. Usually, when a new leader is elected they often get a bounce in the opinion polls. However, the Conservative lead is much higher than the lead Gorden Brown managed when he became leader of the Labour Party in 2007 and the Conservatives didn't have an internal disaster going on.

What a glorious time to be a Conservative.

Any Labour split will also further help their cause, brilliant!

There are plenty of people who will always vote Labour no matter who or what their leader / MP is.

In some constituencies they could pin a red rosette to a potato and it would sweep the majority.

I believe it was Tony Benn who hailed the 1983 election as a great day because an openly socialist party had got 8 million votes.

The mentality is always for such zealots be it on the left nor the right.

Good news i say though i'm actually more impressed that the longer we're in power, the better it seems to get.
And yet they'll still get about 200 more seats than UKIP despite only having double the percentage points.

I too am amazed they arr polling so high. God help us all if Corbyn ever got in power.

Yeah, I'm just constantly wary that we'll get complacent and manage to **** it right up again.

I think more frequent leadership changes probably helps avoid complacency. That probably won't be an issue until the 2020-2025 parliament.
What we musnt forget that if you offered the hard left 100 mps that have gone through their selection process they would bite your hand off.
