Why not gain these experience to apply to jobs such as that? I'm sure you made a thread on how to get into games design, so are you not interested in it anymore?

I am, but I'm not entirely sure how. I've attempted to look for such things but can't seem to find any.

Yeah, that's why I'm not so sure about it anymore. I can't see how positively I can get a job with it.

Well, when you get your grades see if there are any courses you'd like to do that are in clearing. They should offer full flexibility in the future and not be too specialised, so if you do end up changing your mind during your course, you aren't too screwed.

Or if you can, take a gap year to get in tune with yourself and find out what you're actually interested in.

There are many articles out there that explains how to (such as this and also prospect which I recommend you read through). Just type in on Google "How to get into..." and there should be many website that would explain everything you need to do, and all that would be left is for you to make a decision.

Edit: Games Career Guide has a lot of useful advice.

On a similar note, I was just thinking about how much the world overwhlems me. You know, there's lot's of things I could do but there's 7 Billion people on this planet. No matter what I want to try and do there's practically always going to be someone better qualified, in a better position and simply just better than me also trying to do it. My mind practically gets dizzy at the thought of such uselessness and impractical odds against me being a success in anything.

Ugh. I literally don't know what I want to do in life. I'm meant to be going to University in September but I've decided I don't want to do that one so I plan on dropping out. But I have no idea what I want to do in life. Literally, life has been screwed up for me I feel. One minute I want to do one thing, the next I want to do a completely different thing. How can someone like that function? How can someone like that live?

Anyway, I might as well just walk off a bridge now, because I cannot function in life. That is it. I have no idea what I want to do and when I do it only lasts for a week or so. I don't have any strong interests and, as a result, I'm basically screwed.

EDIT: Only helpful posts please, this is not a post for short, unhelpful, unproductive, stupid comments or sarcastic jokes, etc.

Have you considered an apprenticeship? You'll earn a fair wage and will still be able to do something that may lead onto X.

I don't think I've tried looking specifically into apprenticeships; I'll have a look.

Consider it at the least, its a 50/50 situation as you could earn money and still be in education/training of sorts. What is your 'interest' for the future?
I just finished year 12 atm, and I feel the saame. Infact I have ruined my summer holiday by thinking about jt because it all jusr stresses me out.

All my friends have their lives figured out except me

Would not starting your degree be better than dropping out? I don't know how fees work if you never start, but you are just going to incur significant fees/debt by starting a degree and dropping out.Posted from TSR Mobile
Yeah, that's what I meant.
Stop thinking about things so much. You just end up worrying about things out of your control. Just go with it  The only thing you need to make sure of is that you're happy.

Yeah, over-thinking is often a complaint people have with me.
Become a NEET.

No, I'm serious. If you don't want to do something, don't do it.

Get employed and pursue your interests in your spare time.

I'm not really sure, I suppose. I think I just assumed I'd just stumble into a career that I'd like over the next 4 years.

When people asked me why I was doing that I replied 'I'm only doing it because I don't know what else I'd be doing the next 4 years.' It was essentially to buy me more time to figure out what I wanted to do.

That's a less than smart move to get yourself in unnecessary debt, don't you think?

If you have no idea what you wanna do after you graduate, then you should not of went to uni. Personally, I don't see the point of going if you're gonna be in debt to only come and realise, your degree means nothing.

I say, if you've already finished first year, defer for a year and find a job and work for a year and see what happens.

I'm an indecisive person, but always know what I want in terms of future, goals, career and etc. But if you don't know any of this, then your current and future life will be put on hold.

As I said, go get yourself a job and try and look at jobs that you'd think you'd like. Management, Editorial, working with people/customer care, teaching or education; research, etc etc.

Use career websites like prospects and nationalcareersservice to figure out what you want to pursue.

Programming?

3D modelling?

Game reviewing?

Don't start a uni course unless you actually want to do the subject, or else after, you would have squandered your one chance when you do figure it out. You could even wait until your 30 before starting uni, it would better than doing a subject you had no interest in now.

Yeah, mainly game programming and perhaps, to get involved in the industry, game reviewing.
