Accomodation in Coventry

Hello,

I am a portuguese student and I got offered a place in the course of Motorsport Engineering, starting in this year. I am really excited and I can't wait for 26th September ^^
I am starting this post because I would like to know if someone could give me tips about the best accomodation choices, etc. Is anyone going to Coventry and still with no place to live?
I decided to take a degree in UK very recently, so I was not aware of this subject. Now that I decided and got an offer, I started looking for accomodation, but I found that many of the choices seem to be already filled.
If anyone could advise me, I would be really grateful. Thank you!

Hi The Portuguese,

Are you looking to go into halls, or private accommodation? And would you want your own flat, or shared houses?

Will give you some more detail about your options if I can once I know the above!

Thanks,

Shadow :h:

Hi Shadow!

Thank you for the reply. I would prefer going into halls, and I really don't need of having my own flat. I would also don't mind going to private accomodation and sharing a house, but as I said, I would prefer going to a hall. Many of the halls I looked for seem to be already fully booked, so I am struggling to find a good hall near the Uni and with a good price :P

Thank you for all the help!
I've got the same problem. I would like to be in halls because it would obviously be better for socialization and all that. The problem is pricing for me. The cheapest halls work out to be around 120 £ per week. Where as you can get a room in a shared house for like 350-450 per month... So difficult to decide :/

Have you looked at accommodation on Park Road? I can't vouch for it personally, as I've not stayed there, but it has studio flats with shared kitchens, and is a reasonable price! Worth a lookin at least

And it might be worth contacting the university to see what they have to offer too!

A shared house may work out well for socialising too, especially if it's near the uni... is halls a viable option for you, or would it be too expensive? That may well be the decider, in all honesty!

Well, I think it will have to be a shared house. Due to me being an international student I cannot get a maintenance loan. Therefore I'll have to work to pay for rent.... So I think the halls are just a bit too pricey for what you get? Also I'm totally not worried about meeting people and socialization. That's the easy and fun part! Thanks for the advice guys!

From what I recall, I heard fairly late - but if you're worried, the best thing to do is get in touch and ask when you might hear about accommodation
