3 Academic subjects in the 1st year and 3 vocational subjects in the 2nd for A Level

Just looking at something with graphic design and I thought how an industry like advertising needs someone with a wide range of skills and how useful it would be to

..study psychology, sociology and politics in the 1st year

..then in the 2nd year could be more vocational with business studies (marketing), art and design (graphic communication) and media studies.

Does anyone think this could be something that might work in educating the future generations?

I m not sure that it would, theres only so much understanding you can get of a subject in one year.
