Freshers Week

When is it?
http://ousu.org/freshersfair/ - Claims Freshers Fair is 5-7 October. But I get the impression that colleges have their own weeks? And the Merton JCR page doesn't seem to have the information for 2016.

Thanks

Fresher's week runs that whole week. Typically 1st years will move in on the Monday (although this may vary by college). They'll send you loads of information after A level results day in a few weeks with all the events they're running - college will be responsible for virtually all your fresher's week activities, such as clubbing or alternative to clubbing nights, film nights, sports tasters, walks around Oxford, dinners/formal hall, pub quiz... there'll be loads of stuff going on (both fun and compulsory informative things). You'll also likely have departmental induction/tutor meeting.

Freshers fair is Wednesday and Thursday for 1st years and your college will be assigned a set time when you'll walk down in a big group probably and then leave you to look around all the stalls for societies etc (sign up to anything that looks interesting, all it means is that you get emails, it's not an obligation!), but Freshers fair is just one part of the week
Freshers fair =/= freshers week. That's just where you sign up to university societies.

OUSU is not like a normal student union - its mainly a legal/admin type body tbh. The colleges each run their own student union, in effect. Merton will give you lots of info after results day don't worry. It will be the Monday.
