What Laptop For Uni?

Going to be studying Computer Science and bare in mind I'm not made of money any advice on this would be much appreciated

I'd get a Lenovo Thinkpad T-series laptop. It's more than enough for a CS degree. What I would also do is look online for discounts on Lenovo laptops as well.

You pay a lot of money for them though. A similar but much cheaper (still somewhat dear) laptop would be the Asus Zenbook UX305 which is what I use.
Alright came down mate, someone sounds a bit butt hurt. I fully understand the concept of choosing a laptop and what specs i would like, i was just looking for other peoples advice to ensure my £500 or so is spent on the most amount of bang for your buck.

To anyone else gaming CS Go and Skyrim is a must. I was thinking about geting a cheap laptop just for the admin side browsing in the internet as such the a desktop in my room the the nitty gritty stuff. If i need to program or whatever when im not at my room i can always use the ones in the labs? Has anyone Done this combo?
My main question is what processing speed and RAM is required for using IDE's?? Im not quite sure what is prefered. Are they heavy tasks

I'm doing Computer Science and I am taking two. One running linux for working which is old and I just had lying around, and another one for social media and dealing with other stuff like skype.

Ultimately, I would get as powerful laptop a laptop as you can get and dual boot since Linux is taught in a good number of courses and is useful for jobs in the industry.

What I ended up doing was buying an old late 2006 macbook off ebay for £100. Ive heard OSX is a popular OS to code in and if not is great for browsing the web and the like. Additionally you can partition the hard drive to duel boot Linux or Windows 10 which im looking into before i start my course. Then i have a really old computer at home that im going to upgrade the mother board processor etc and use to game on in my room. I think this way i get the best of both worlds with power in m desktop and portability in my macbook. I personally dont enjoy gaming on a laptop anyways. Recently i have been using remote desktop from my sixth form account to build a website on dreamweaver to brush up my coding skills before I start and this runs fine as it is being done centrally on my macbook with bad specs. Anyways what unis did you all get into and feel free to slate my hardware choice haha

Sounds pretty good. Are you sure a 10 year old MacBook will have the longevity you need though?

For browsing and Microsoft office it works great. If it starts to become obsolete i will switch over to primarily running windows 10 from the duel boot. In my opinion Its better value that buying the cheapest HP laptop.

Probably. Still, you may want to be aware because the hardware may fail in some way, being so old.

Pretty good besides that. Seriously though, I sound like an autist for bringing that up, but it kills your hands typing on those keyboards for longer than like 4 hours.
