UNIVERSITY COMMUTERS: How did you make friends?

Hi, for those of you who did not stay at university, was it hard for you to make friends, and how did you?

Hi! I commuted in the last term of uni. I met quite a few people travelling to and fro, and weirdly met many other uni commuters in the process. The early starts and long waits for trains etc. are very character building, and you will bond with other commuters!

I commuted to uni for 4 years and I joined societies. I met people on other courses as well as my own and I wasn't lonely at all.

I commuted to uni and back for the first year and i still managed to make decent friends by socialising with people on my course and just talking to random people lol


It's because i was being myself that i attracted the right crowd.

Moral of the story is, it doesn't matter if you stay on campus or commute to uni.

It depends on the person.

Yeah, you meet a lot of students in societies and freshers week/month. A lot of them will be in your position, so they would be happy to socialise with anyone tbh.

I just started off by saying "hi" and asked for their name. Then, we just have a general conversation about the course they are studying, where they are from, what kind of things do they like etc.
