Why do guys in my new city look straight past me?

So do you want men stopping you on the street, staring at you, asking for your number etc or don't you?
Bigger cities = higher proportion of attractive girls. Gonna have to be something special to get heads turning.

"how dare you objectify women by looking at us and talking and harassing us"

"why are you not looking at me omg just talk to me someone"

I don't realise that women shared a single mental entity? I didn't realise that if one woman takes offence at one thing, and another took offense at another thing, then that is hypocrisy?

Guy 1 "I like Suicide Squad"

Guy 2 "I hate Suicide Squad".

The hypocrisy!! 😱

How can you actually get by with that level of reasoning? Humans were meant to have passed that cognitive mile stone before the age of 10.

Or are you succumbing to biased reasoning where you deindividuate members of another social group to the extent where you do physically see women as one big entity. There are no individuals, we all think the same.
All Muslims are terrorists then I take it.

In the previous cities that I lived in I got frequent male attention on a daily basis. I got stopped by random men asking me for my number, stared at or complimenting me on how 'beautiful' I was almost everyday.

Then I moved to a new bigger city, and it was like I became invisible to men. I still looked the exact same as before. I would walk down the street and they literally wouldn't look my way for one second. They all looked straight past me when I walked past them, whether I was walking on the pavement on my way to lectures or in the shopping centre etc. In fact it's like they go out of the way to avoid looking at me, they don't even look my direction once as if I have some contagious illness that if they look at me for half a second they would drop dead or something.

I remember being at one party talking to a group of people and this one guy literally acted like I wasn't there, when other people were talking he would look at them but when I spoke he literally wouldn't look at me for one second at all. It's happened numerous times.

My friend said my height may be perceived as intimidating, as I'm a 5'10 tall girl. But still, it's the complete opposite experience of the previous cities I lived in. Does anyone know why this occurred? (I don't feel comfortable posting a pic btw so please don't ask for one).

Because they see loads of women everyday why would they stop to look at you?
Does this particular county begin with 'N' by any chance?

... I can't believe you actually miss the point in what the writer was saying in her second article, it is so blatant. Yet it went over your head, again how do you get by as students with that basic a level of reasoning?

As I've said regarding those very same articles over and over again on this forum. Just because an individual recognises that some behaviours and pressures in society are wrong, that does not mean she is immune to those pressures.

She may not like the fact that wolf whistling and cat calling is such a common occurrence. But she also does not like the fact that a woman's value and sense of self-worth is dictated by her appearance.

She recognises that wolf-whistling is wrong. She recognises that the objectification of women in society is wrong. She recognises that the fact that women lose their "value" (which is wrong itself) as they age is wrong.

However, because she recognises that, that does not mean that she is resilient to unpleasant feeling of losing her value in society. Because that's what has been drummed into her, her entire life. It would take a very strong individual to undo all of the socialisation or to not give a toss. And that's the precise basis of her article

She is showing a good sense of self-awareness that you probably will never experience in your life, what with your apparent reasoning ability of an eight year old.

OP, If you've moved around a lot you should have noticed that depending when you are people act differently. London is kinda unfriendly for example when compared with cities up north.

obviously for whatever reason where you have moved to you now have a lower market value. Maybe there are many tall girls who look similar to you walking around, maybe the men have preferences for average sized women, ...maybe the caliber of women is far higher in this new city and you're simply not getting noticed, ......, maybe the male to female ratio is skewed in mens favor in your new city making them more picky, also generally bigger city = less noticeable and harder to stand out.

As a male having moved around a lot .. i've generally noticed that the bigger city i'm in ...the less female attention i get.

I do not think you understand what I am saying.

I am basically saying that Men are now being taught or being told that Harassing women is bad and yes harassing anyone is bad but now harassing is being taught as talking to. you see the stupid walking through new york vid and people saying Hello or good morning and this is complained about.

I normally say good morning to local people I see on the street and most reply with morning back but one woman replied Stop harassing me, its like wtf.

All I am saying is that there are loads of mixed messages coming from feminists that are trying to be the voice of all women but are failing

Okay I see what you mean. I thought you were referring to the OP directly. Sorry

I'd say most women are happy with a hello and smile. Personally I like that.

What most women dislike is the wolf whistling or sleazy comments about our bodies. Do you see the line?

To me the first "smile and hello" is either just friendly politeness or a guy saying he finds you attractive. Whereas the latter is a guy saying he's only looking at you as if you're a sex object. And I hate that, makes me feel weird.
