Gap year advice

Been thinking about what to do next year and right now a gap year feels like the best option. I haven't even seen the inside of a university, didn't go to the open days and honestly I don't fancy commiting myself to three years of studying right now.

I applied for a sports Managment degree but my absolute passion is sport. I'd love to really focus on that. Rugby is practically my entire life, I love playing, trainingand everything that comes with it. I love sport in general though whether it be football, cricket, boxing, tennis, there aren't many sports I don't enjoy to be honest.

Anyway I was just wondering you guys think would be good to do because I'm a complete novice at this.

Thank you
Don't commit yourself to a degree unless you're 100% sure of it (or at least 99% sure...) - it's a lot of money to throw away if you later change your mind. Taking a gap year is a great chance to continue your enjoyment of sport while figuring out what you might want to do next - universities don't look down on students who apply during their gap year, in fact having confirmed A2 results and a year more maturity can really help you

Do try and plan out what to do with your gap year though, so you don't accidentally end up wasting the opportunities - for example you could get a local job (sounds like you're pretty good at a lot of sports - how about a job in a gym or sports club?), do some travelling, get some work experience, and/or develop a skill (e.g. take up one of your sports more competitively, get into a regional or national squad, etc.). These activities could really help you figure out what exactly you want to do, if perhaps there might be a better alternative to university (e.g. could you take up sport professionally? How about coaching (you could even do this abroad, e.g. by working for an adventure travel company)? Apprenticeships?) which could save you a lot of money and lead you more directly into the career you want.

I totally agree with whatever @dragonkeeper999 has advised you. I have also taken a gap year but mine is after doing a degree. So, it is better to explore your prospects now. Good luck though in whatever you end up doing.
Thanks for the replies, really appreciate it.

I train 3 nights a week so ideally I'd do something in the morning. My initial ideas were a sports shop or a coffee shop. Coffee is a bit of a passion of mine and I wouldn't mind doing something like that. We don't have a local sports club as such, just lots of individual independent clubs who specialise in one sport. During the day nothing happens though with everyone at school and work etc

Working in a gym sounds good but I guess that's quite a popular one.
