From my experience chess.com ratings are a few hundred rating points lower than otb in the interval [1450,1850] [1450, 1850 ] (on chess.com), but seem more reliable outside that range. e.g. fewer people highly rated so hard to increase beyond about 1950 for standard. Blitz is completely different again probably but dont have much tourney experience with that. I dont understand why we use ecf over here cus its the only rating system that isnt almost exactly equal to fide :tongue:


I suppose one could make a reasonable comparison based on percentiles, if they're available. In turn-based I'm around 93rd percentile, in live standard 91st. Bit more crap for blitz and bullet, perhaps because I'm a rather slow thinker. Yeah ECF just feels weird. Never know what it means when someone says a certain number.

Yeah thats probably a better way of judging it. although id guess only more stronger players would be in otb tourneys because its more effort. I think the conversion between ecf and elo (fide) is ELO=7.5ECF+700 ELO= 7.5ECF+700 . And yea Im not particularly great at blitz/ bullet either. I dont mind 5mins but any less and my internet speed it as big a factor as my rushed play
