Well no. The root cause is there is no discipline in this country, and the fact we give any rights to criminals. Once they are convicted, they shouldn't have any.

There is only a crisis as there isn't enough houses right? Who for? Oh yes, our over populated country.

Other parts and counties of he world are a lot bigger than us but have a vastly smaller population.

Of course demand for houses is a factor but isn't the root cause of the crisis. Plain and simple we aren't building enough houses.
Population growth happens EVERYWHERE yet many countries don't seem to be facing the problems we do.

We were building over 350,000 houses a year in the seventies when there was a smaller population, yet we only manage to build around half of that now.
If the root cause was high demand as you say due to over population wouldn't we expect to see house production be above levels in the seventies?

The people who build the houses don't want to build enough houses to satisfy demand - they want to build at the rate which maximises their income. For them the optimal rate to build houses is one where they can keep building, but there is a constant shortage keeping the prices high. We will never have enough houses while the house builders control the supply.

Wrong, it's actually around 10% urban.

The 2% thing is a very misleading figure that basically only looks at what is "built on" - it ignores things like parks, open areas, allotments, urban green space, etc. All stuff which is still part of the urban area (and therefore part of housing developments).

Also for that you mention to happen the population would need to be something like 600 million which is more than the entire population of the eu lol.
