That's reassuring at least! I love Physics but I know a lot of it is Maths at degree level so I'm at least glad about the A* in FM  My friend who is off to do Physics at a RG university also got an A in Phys and A*s in Maths and FM so clearly not uncommon XD

Thanks for the reply!
Quick question - if my current offer is deferred would any pool offer also be deferred?

Yes.

Good questions. If you achieved the standard offer in your subject then you must be pooled unless your preference college takes you. If you haven't met the standard offer then pooling is at the discretion of the preference college.

Maths is the subject which makes the biggest use of the Summer Pool (coz STEP) but there is movement in many subjects (otherwise we wouldn't bother with a Summer Pool). We always say that everything is on a case-by-case basis in light of individual circumstances and this is especially true at this time of year.

We always try to act in candidate's best interests and pool only and all those who are likely to be of interest to other colleges. We aim to have as many decisions finalised before today as we can. If you are still pending it is because you are still of interest and are still in contention for a place.

In terms of the amount of people who get put into the pool, is there a standard amount of people that get accepted or is it dependent year by year?

Hopefully my S in step 1(and my 3 in step3) will show I have promise. Yeah I haven't seen anyone with an A* yet , which is a bit strange then again WE GOT IN so it's not that bad that's reassuring

My friend got an A*.
A* in physics edexcel really screwed people this, i feel for the people who were affected.
Edexcel is honestly a horrendous board for science especially physics.

Oh wow Step as well! I don't have any of that but 100% in M1 and 100% in M2 should do the trick for me, haha  Yeah if it's okay for Cambridge then it's fine for us!

It's so weird, I got 98% in Biology but then was 29 UMS off an A* in Physics which I enjoy more :-/ Just don't understand what happened but I'm putting it behind me and gonna ace Phys NatSci!

Thank you for your reply. As my offer was higher than standard at A*A*A, does this mean I will have a good chance of being taken by another college if my remark comes back as A*AA which is the standard for all Law applicants?

Very variable.

It really depends on your individual circumstances as well as how many colleges are looking to fish Law students.

I remember you from the good ol' post-interview days. I'm sorry you didn't meet your offer. :cry2:

Where are you off to now?

Oh back to the good old days  I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing now, as I missed my insurance (UCL) too. Basically what happened is that I needed A* maths for both, I missed it by 2 UMS but got an easy A* in FM. Teachers were getting me to play the whole FM is harder so clearly I can do maths and just had a bad exam card, but UCL told me to get lost. Sent my UMS to Cambridge but not sure they'll care as I was flat out rejected and not left pending or whatever. Also sent for remarks but not expecting anything.

Sorry for the essay  I feel like you got results last year? But if not, hope they went great!

I'm really sorry this bothered you. I didn't mean it to be a jibe at anyone, rather a sarcastic comment in relation to last year's results, but this is all but impossible to convey sensibly over the internet. I should have worded it a bit less like a ******* given the circumstances and I absolutely apologise.

Thanks.

I'm sorry to put such a downer on it and everything, I just think that maybe it's a bit of a touchy subject at the moment. Personally I'm cool with the fact I didn't get in now (way more than I thought I would be ) but I imagine some people are very upset after this morning. I know it's just a joke and maybe it'd be funny in a weeks time or so and on the freshers thread but I think it's just too soon right now. I'm probably being over sensitive but hey.

Congrats again, and enjoy your time there

Similar here

I sat Decision Maths 2, when I only began learning it the day before, after sitting a physics exam. I hate Decision Maths. I got 70% UMS.

I sat Mechanics 3, I was extremely comfortable with it, and really enjoyed learning it. I ended up with only 74%.

I've got a question 4 u

You sat your A-level modules last year, got em cached in, right? So when you sat your Additional F Maths A-level this year, were some of the modules taken out of the Maths and Further Maths A-levels from last year, to give you as high a score as possible, or could you only use the 6 modules you sat this year?
I missed my condition by one mark in each STEP paper. I've been pooled, but with 2,2 I doubt I stand a chance. In so devastated I don't even know what I'm going to do now
