You can put predicted grades into a site like http://university.which.co.uk/courses

It is worth applying to both universities if you have ABB.

Just a (very biased) suggestion, have you considered Loughborough University?

I am currently a student there doing Materials Engineering, and it has a top engineering department, as well as very good lecturers.

gutted, absolutely gutted, i don't know what course to do now looks like adjustment it is ... i guess

You mean clearing. Adjustment is if you exceed your offer.

no adjustment is what i want, i'm probably going to apply low uni courses get the firm offer, hopfully get at least ABB in real A2 and then go through adjustment , if all fails, gap year then reapply .

Include 1 or 2 higher requirement universities at the outset. Adjustment is not an easy or logistically straight-forward option.

Apply for an engineering or science foundation year at a university that also offers Materials.

Ok, if I were you, I would apply only to foundation years, and, if you do well in your exams, try adjustment/clearing. Potentially even the university that accepted you for the foundation MIGHT be willing to let you into the first year.

Chester

Birmingham (allows you to progress into BEng Materials Engineering)

QMUL and Sheffield foundation years do not take students who have the correct subjects for first year entry and Leeds foundation is only open to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, hence these are the only 5 materials courses you can apply to.

As far as I know, Swansea tends to be lenient on the applicants they accept, and Chester's course is new (the first intake was this year), which might make it a bit less competitive? Anyway, if you are set on materials, I would apply to these 5 foundation years.
