Oxbridge: posh and right-wing?

I think it is more right wing than other unis. But obviously students are overwhelmingly left wing so that's not saying much.

What I would say about Oxford is that you get a lot of people who are very vocal/active/passionate about what they do, and what people 'do' is a lot more likely to be politics than at other unis. So actually to have people actively campaigning for say a socialist party is pretty commonplace. You get conservative supporters too but tbh in my experience its a little taboo and they tend to stay quiet.

I was in an especially left wing college i think though.

Its pretty common in state schools actually. Teachers are very misinformed

Take some stats from the article below - more than 50% of teachers think that less than 30% of Oxbridge students are from state schools. Just 7% answered correctly (>50%). Just 44% of teachers said they would encourage their best pupils to apply to Oxbridge.

That puts it behind Bath (43%), Bristol (34%), Exeter (43%), Imperial (48%), LSE (45%) and a bunch of others - including Loughborough, yes the university known for sports, which has 50% of its cohort intending to vote for the Tories.

P.S. Oxford is more left leaning than Cambridge according to the guide.

Fascinating resource, and I was about to comment on Oxford-Cambridge difference as well before I saw your edit.

I think that table would be a huge case for AV - conservatives take the most unis despite the clear dominance of the leftwards labour-green contingent! The only unis where conservatives beat a hypothetical labour-Green coalition are Durham, Imperial and Loughborough.
Oxbridge are by far the most left wing universities in the country (to a negative level).

Also with regards to posh people, they are still people..

looking down at posh people is the same as posh people looking down at poor people (which tbh at oxbridge they barely do).
