Med School- What's the actual course you need to take?

Hey guys, I would just like to find out, what is the actual course that you need to take. I want to go to med school, but I would like to specialise in a certain area of it e.g. neurology. What course would I need to take?

University= De Montfort University, QMC, University of Nottingham, Aston-basically all the universities in the Midlands.

Nottingham is probably the only uni on your list with the A100 course. You need to go to med school before you specialize. It doesn't really matter which medical school you go to though (you can put 4 on ucas)

If you want to be a doctor, you have to study medicine (A100). You do not get to choose a specialty whilst at medical school, or even for the first two years after graduating. As others have said, Nottingham is the only one you have listed which offers medicine; other Midlands university options would be Birmingham, Leicester, Keele, though we usually recommend that people don't stick to one location in order to maximise their chances of getting in.

If you want to do research in neurology, then you could look at a neuroscience degree, which more universities will offer (or have as part of a more generic biomedical sciences course), but this will not allow you to be a doctor or work clinically.
I suggest you look into the medicine training structure in the UK, given that that's what you'll be signing up for. Whilst there are some limited rotations in med school which allow choice, it'll be at least 9 years before you actually specialise in neurology.
