Well, if I'm not already, that is...

I'm guessing you got in too? Since success seems to be proportional to number of posts...

It's a fact. Someone very clever has done the analysis

Although correlation does not equal causation...

Was it intended to be so small number of people? Wtf lol

Some more stats (I clearly need to get out more!): These are all for UK candidates.

For Edexcel, the proportion getting an A* in the last few years:
2015 8.7%
2014 8.8%
2013 8.0%
For each of the 4 years, the proportion of girls getting an A* was between 50% and 100% higher than for boys.

The JCQ stats for UK candidates for all of the exam boards:
2016 8.8%
2015 9.7%
2014 9.0%
2013 9.2%

So fairly consistent and MUCH lower than for Maths (not to mention FM).

320 candidates got an A* in Edexcel Physics., 7% of candidates.

Holy crap that's small.

Lol i could well get addicted to stocking up on H pencils but I'm planning on buying stuff there cus i thought it would be a little cheaper. Also saves carrying it all up with me

I have an addiction for pen and paper. I got a dip pen recently, so much fun.
I might ask my 9 yr old cousin to teach me how to ride a bike

Glad to know I'm not the only person our age who can't ride a bike

haha nice. The only problem is my maths is the sort of stuff that needs a lot of corrections so pen + my handwriting is unreadable

What's it like compared to chemistry and biology?
Original post by Zacken
AFAIK, buying one during the first few weeks of term is expensive because of high demand there. Cheaper to buy one before and bring it up, although not much choice for internationals.

True, but they're overpriced at all points of the year. I've seen **** bikes that would be worth around 50 quid anywhere else being put on sale for as much as 200. Basically, buy a bike before and bring it down and if you're an international, try to find a person who recently graduated and is willing to sell their bike for a reasonable price, although this is rare. Sometimes colleges will do a bike sale for some bikes that have been culled, these tend to go for cheap.

Same, took off my brothers but couldn't be bothered to do mine :/

Ferraris don't ooze enough class, would prefer Bentleys or Rolls Royces instead

Lol @ Edexcel Biology this year - to get full UMS in the Unit 4 paper you could get between 54 and 90 out of 90 because there was so much controversy over the content
Has anyone got a definitive list of all kinds of stationary we need to take?

Typical mathmo problem:

stationary = particle that's not moving

stationery = paper and pens

I thought the same with physics - "hey, the boundaries are so low, I should have near full in both Unit 4 and Unit 5!" Turned out Unit 5 was a complete wreck. The opposite is true with chemistry - "zomg am I even gonna get an A???" Got an A* overall. :woo:

Getting an A* in Edexcel sciences is unpredictable and all luck tbh.

With that being said, I know one lad who got A*A*A*A*A* in M/FM/sciences this year...

So it would seem that all the sciences are pretty much equally challenging. For IAL, physics is usually only 5%.
