Personally I wouldn't trust any group on Facebook which you aren't told about from the uni directly. Chances are it'll be a data mining exercise or they will try and sell you tickets to 'official' events which never happen.

I followed a trail of hyperlinks from this page: https://www.facebook.com/ConstantineCollegeSA/. I also looked extensively through the main group page (this one: https://www.facebook.com/groups/constantine14/) and it's clearly real. The fake, presumably-data-grabbing ones always look generic (with header images of standard, non-specific student accommodation), and the hosts are nobodies. The hosts of these groups are actual York students - it's as official as it'll get. I've joined, been approved and had no issues.

Edit: just looked and the official Constantine website links to the group, which in turn links to everything else

It's expensive, but I think it'll be worth it - it's 'only' £25 extra (if I remember correctly) compared to the normal ticket, and as my flatmates liked to point out, you're only a fresher once. That being said, I might have to live off textbooks rather than food for a while now...
