The gig is up - Corbyn just as decieftul as other politicians #Traingate

It isn't clear yet what all the facts of this story are - there are passengers stating that Corbyn is telling the truth and there were no seats in his section of the train when he sat on the floor.

What we should remember is that Virgin have every reason to lie and twist the truth. They are heavily funded by the taxpayer, many of their services are overcrowded and the government have set up the rail franchises in such a way that they receive revenues and profits regardless of how many passengers have to stand on journeys. The way in which fare penalties and fares are run also means that many services are a complete ripoff. The idea that Virgin, suckling on the teat of taxpayer largesse, have no motive to lie and cheat about this is absurd.
When offshored oligarchs meet to smile (or leer menacingly) at the cameras.

I think it is too early to call yet.

All I've seen is stills. But one seems to show Corbyn walking down a carriage where there are empty seats. However all seats seem to have tickets on the top - which means they're reserved.

There also seem to be witness accounts which contradict Virgin's comments. Some people have said that the train was in fact packed. There are pictures of other people in the vestibule with Corbyn. And the official account from Corbyn's team is that he was seated after 45 minutes, when Virgin staff moved some other passengers to First Class. This is backed up by a witness who says she was also seated 45 minutes into the journey.

Virgin have said that they will look for footage from the vestibule areas to see if other people were sitting with them. I'd have thought that Virgin would've released images of a lonely Corbyn along with those which they've produced today.

If Corbyn has lied - then it is a bad thing. However, no one can deny that trains are very often overcrowded. I've actually not long received payment from Virgin trains after I complained about an overcrowded (and delayed) service.
lol no one gives a **** about it

the more corbyn is attacked by the media like this, the stronger his support becomes among his hardcore lefties

which ones?
and still, it is very safe to assume that corbyn is no longer the socialist messiah he once was in terms of politics - obviously people thought he was different to the other labourites in terms of his principles - now his principles seem to be exactly the same - the principle of career politics
also, the fact that he didn't know who ant and dec were is kind of another huge blow to his "average joe" image

He went on an overcrowded train to sit on the floor. People are making out as if there were seats and yet he still didn't sit. The article even says those seats were first class. There are pictures of him on twitter by random people who confirm that he was there for ca. 40 minutes until staff moved people (which he himself said too that staff moved people). I don't see how he completely destroyed his principles here?

Implying that everybody on twitter is honest. The thing that has to be remembered is that just because there are people other than the subject involved does not mean they are merely passing by.

All because of one photo. Virgin themselves said he didn't upgrade to first class...

At the end of the day, those that were against him will believe what they want and those that are for him will believe the opposite.

"Virgin Trains has questioned footage showing Jeremy Corbyn sitting on the floor of a "ram-packed" service. In a film shown on The Guardian, the Labour leader said he was experiencing a problem "many passengers face every day" on the London to Newcastle train.

But Virgin said CCTV showed Mr Corbyn and his team walking past available seating before starting filming.

It says the crew helped him to a carriage where seats were available and he sat for the rest of his journey."

Dont jump to conclusions without seeing the evidence.

I have seen the footage for myself. Its clear that almost all the seats were reserved indicated by the cards above them.

And any seats that were "not occupied" could have been occupied by children or shorter people meaning they looked "not occupied".

Many witnesses have already sided with Corbyn, even ones who admitted they personally dislike him politically.

Clearly Virgin Trains have an agenda. Corbyns Video was outlining the faliures of Private Train Services and why we should renationalise. Of course Virgin Trains, a private company is going to try and do a smear campaign to divert attention from Corbyns message. They wont want people to start calling for nationalisation of Train Services.

Common sense people. And dont even bother taliking about it if you havent seen the footage.

I am not the one jumping to conclusions.

1. I stated that all of the storyline adds up.

2. The only people questioning it are those that dislike Corbyn to begin with.

Spin machine in full flow here:

First statement: 'It was full, he gave his seat up to a woman.'Okay.
2nd statement: 'A family was upgraded to first class.'A new story!
3rd statement: 'He couldn't find a seat.'But the seats weren't all reserved.
4th: 'Some had bags on them.'What about the some that didn't?

How many more can we get tonight?

TBH if it was anyone else it would be a non-story but because of the cult like status of Jeremy (PBUH) it's too cataclysmic if he's found out

Why are you assuming he did anything wrong.
Weren't they all reserved? And there's loads of photo evidence on twitter that others were also sitting on the floor. Corbyn found a seat 45 minutes into the journey. The media love a catchy headline though without the real facts, and somehow always succeed to fool the simpletons on studentroom.

What we have is a Corbyn supporter claiming on Twitter that other passengers have stated that. When questioned about who these people were and how he contacted them, he went silent.

In any case, humans make incredibly unreliable witnesses. On the other hand, we have clear images of Corbyn walking past free unreserved seats in coach H, going to the door area where he sat down and filmed his staged photo op, then returning to those unreserved seats in coach H where he sat down for the 80% of the journey that remained.

Here's Corbyn walking past the seats at around 11:10

And here he is returning to those seats at around 11:45 after having filmed his little staged photo op

Here is the photo of him walking past reserved seats; it was a completely different carriage.

So all the huffing and puffing about reserved seats, claims the staff had to move people around or bilked him for a first-class tickets, are hilariously inept attempts to cover up a botched spin operation.

why make four different statements in the space of 6 hours if he's done nothing wrong?

Look at the 11.07 photo, he walks past empty seats
