Mate it's right angles, you can get by without the cosine rule.

Okay. Label angle CBACBA as θ\theta

We know that CBcosθ=13CBcos\theta = 13 as CB is the hypoteneuse and 13 is the adjacent side to the angle theta.

Means that CB=13cosθCB=\frac{13}{cos\theta}

How do we find theta? Use trigonometry inside the smaller triangle to find it.

The angle made by the lines CB (DB works too) and BA. Label it θ\theta and attempt to find what it is using the smaller triangle.

If you don't understand what's being explained to you, then you don't properly understand the topic.
