Hey how would you factorise an expression such as this 4

-2x^2+2xy+4x+4y

You always take out the common factor first. In this case it could be either 2 or -2. You'd be left with:
2(-x^2+xy+2x+2y) OR -2(x^2-xy-2x-2y)

The common factor doesn't have to be a number, sometimes all the things have a common letter aswell and you could take that out aswell.
