International Relations for Uni?

Hey

I'm planning to go onto international relations for uni, but am not sure what to take for A Levels.
I'm Definitely sure on taking:
Geography
Eglish Literature
and another GCSE Language
But I don't know what to take as my 3rd A level course.
What do you suggest would be a good subject to take?

MHI

History since international relations is in essence a watered down mixture of history, economics and politics. I wouldn't do another GCSE language qualification. Just aim for AAA in your three a levels

Hey! I just finished AS, and I'm writing my personal statement for international relations right now! Honestly, do what you want, they really don't mind. I'm doing Biology (dropping in Yr13 tho), Psychology, Government and Politics and also Geography.

Both GovPol and Geog are really helpful as subjects, though you don't have to do GovPol, I would really recommend it to get a headstart in political knowledge.

Don't bother with another GCSE Language, focus on your A Levels.
- Unless you take up your GCSE Language to A Level, that would be really good.

So, I think you should do;

Geography
GovPol
English Literature
and maybe a less humanities orientated subject just to give yourself a break off of the essays, like a language. (But pls don't do another GCSE while doing A Levels lol)

EDIT; Make sure you just do what you enjoy, please! That's the most important thing that will make you want to revise and get your awesome grades!

If you're doing Edexcel GovPol, then your first year (AS), will be exploring UK Politics: Elections, Pressure Groups, Political Parties and Democracy. You will also have another side of the course, where you will study the Judiciary, Constitution, Executive and Parliament.

If you're willing to take GovPol up for A2, you will study either US Politics, OR a range of ideologies, such as feminism, anarchism, socialism, marxism, etc.

The course is AMAZING, if you're REALLLLLY into politics. At the start you may hate it like I did and understand nothing (lol), but after a while, you begin to even use the key terms in your day to day life when you're discussing politics with anyone. It makes you sound so clever, lol- but ofc don't take it because of that, take it because you ENJOY it.

You have to keep up with current affairs A LOT. =)

Hope I helped and didn't scare you lol, it's not as hard as it sounds, trust me, I knew nothing about politics, but now I read the news as a hobby.
