Robot wars is BACK!

Enjoyed the series and the superior robot won. Power of that flipper just outclassed everyone else.
Hope its back next year.
Really enjoyed this series. The grand finals were great as well.

Carbide obviously had some highlights but after their first match with Apollo and the unnecessary extra damage they decided to inflict to a completely immobile machine I started rooting against them. Seeing TR2 take them down was hugely cathartic and seeing Apollo win the runback was great as well.

Speaking of Apollo, worthy winners in my book. Hugely entertaining, very good driver and all three seem like top blokes. I hope they'll be back to add Sir Killalot to the set!
I hope they do another new series.

ITs been done well enough (apart from the retarded editing of showing the teams and not the actual fight) and has been enjoyed by enough people that they would be foolish not to do it again. Although I bet Sky try and buy it, they buy everything else :unimpressed:

I'll be glad if they do make another new Erie's. I open they do.

As a fan of spinners & as I'm from the same city as Carbide I was hoping they'd win. Apollo fought well though & you can't say they don't deserve it. I think it's great to see two very offensively minded robots in the final; it shows that currently the weaponry out there is tough enough to get through (in terms of Carbide) or bypass (in terms of Apollo) even the most heavily armoured competitors. The fact that Carbide managed to tear up Behemoth, which even Hypno Disc couldn't do, and destroy part of the arena wall shows just how spectacular that spinning bar is.
On the other hand, you've got Apollo's flipper which even several hundred kilos of house robot can't escape from. I do wish Apollo had gone after Sir Killalot as he's the heaviest of the bunch.

Once Carbide's weapon failed, I couldn't see them getting a result; The robot is so specialised it just doesn't have the pushing power force an opponent into the pit or house robots if the bar stops spinning. I don't think Carbide lost a single battle when its bar kept spinning whereas I don't think it won one in battles where it failed. Hopefully they'll come back again next time & we'll also see the return of Hyno Disc upgraded to current standards (because Carbide would tear them apart at the moment).

I just want to see what happens when the full speed disk of Hypno Disc and the bar of Carbide actually touch each other, I have no idea what would happen.

I think well defiantly see Hypno Hisk again panic attack would be good if it came back and of course Razer must return.

Razor already returned.
Back~

That final was, in my opinion, the best of all eight Robot Wars series so far. Though TBH, a lot of the previous finals were underwhelming due to robots breaking down or the fights being overly one-sided. This one was perfect... even if I still can't predict a winner.

Yeah but they were totally robbed and should have gone much further.

Whilst I agree, I doubt it would have won. Others such as Apollo and Carbide (provided the spinner worked) would have been too much for it imo.

yeah that's true although I feel it could have beaten carbide if it could get behind it.

Yeah it would have definitely done damage it that was the case, but Carbide near enough killed everything it touched so it'd have to be careful. It is a shame that Razer went out so early though, since it's by far the best crusher both in terms of looks and ability.
The robot I'd like to see square off against Carbide is Gabriel. I did initially write it off but after the fight with Pulsar I do think it's very well designed, and can certainly take a huge beating. Carbide would push it around more than Pulsar thanks to a much bigger weapon but a good hit seems to pretty much neuter Carbide's spinner - and I think repeated hits on something else durable enough to take it could quite possibly shut it down as well.
Great Final, enjoyable series.
Hopefully a second series happens.

Fix the editing, Maybe add a bit more fun into the series- It's all just too serious.

A longer series (10-16 heats) with semi finals before the grand final would be awesome. Hopefully there will be more time between now and the applications closing, and a further gap between then and the next filming, so that the builders aren't having to rush things as much as before.
Cheers for the info. Quite similar to the announcement in January, cut-off in February we had for the series just gone, then. I guess they're expecting to be inundated with entries. :giggle:

It's the prospective new teams, and old TV teams that haven't taken part in the live shows that will have the most work to do (along with any of last series' teams that plan on entering something totally new), but from what I can gather the robot doesn't even need to have been built at the application stage, so I guess there's still time after that.
:ditto: Though Ian Lewis seemed to take the loss well this time, at least. Their defeats in BattleBots as well.

I think the current Behemoth could beat Razer quite comfortably, unless they make some proper upgrades for the next series.
