How the heck is this a 'hate incident'? It's fine to believe that people born with penises are men.

I'm a Conservative supporter myself so I don't have anything against the party but this is ridiculous. The Labour guy should have been allowed to call the person a man if he wanted.

What does this have to do with socialism?

I completely agree. I've nearly referred to trans people as their biological sex before, it's difficult not to, sometimes you just forget. I don't have anything against trans people, but why does it have to involve everyone else?

I know it's rude to call someone something they don't want to be called but a lot of people have strong beliefs about transgender issues and they shouldn't have to suppress those beliefs (such as believing that people are what they were born as).

It's more just that its very easy to call someone a he when you know they are biologically male. Some part of you still thinks of them as their biological sex, and that's the truth for everyone. Otherwise, we wouldn't even need to think of them as transgender.

Why do people always use attack helicoptor as their joke identity?
This is a terribly depressing story. Using preferred pronouns is a courtesy, and intentionally using the wrong ones is rude; but one has the right to be a dick in a free society without being arrested by the state.

Action from the local Labour party? Sure. Action from the police? Absolutely not within the domain of sanity.

Indeed. There's no evidence this was intentional. Investigating it as a hate crime is ludicrous
LOL. So calling someone the wrong pronoun is now a major news story? So much so that this councillor called the Police in response!

Its confusing enough in 2016 to remember to call people the right pronoun, whether its 'he', 'she', or 'it'. Cut him some slack before you assume it was malicious.
Genderstapo out in full force.

Misgendering someone on par with beating someone to a pulp because they're black.

What a time to live.

I can imagine referring a gender-neutral person as "He" instead of "Ze" will get you 25 years in jail.
A councillor? Who cares? Councillors are so unimportant, literally the most pointless political job there is. Do they even get paid?
Mistaking someone's preferred pronoun may offend them and no one should intentionally do it out of respect, but when it's accidental condemning them is just ridiculous.
And then to smear the entire Labour party of half a million+ people on one person's comment is even more so.

Really

How about calling her '******' is that ok?

It wasn't accidental

the councillor has never know her as a male so there was simply no need other than to be offensive.

Or find out the facts and then realise it was malicious and then rightly condemn their actions.

the councillor in question has only ever know the person as a female. They transitioned 2 years before moving to the area she now lives in.
