Labour party councillor calls trangender tory councillor a " man "

There's no evidence this was intentional.

Yes there is.

Hence the actions of the police.

the councillor in question has only ever know the person as a female. They transitioned 2 years before moving to the area she now lives in.

Clearly he knows she is biologically male, otherwise calling her a he must have have been even more of an unintentional mishap.

I agree but given he has only know her as a she there was no need to do this.

He will have to justify himself and I don't think it's going to go well for him
You have a penis, Imma call you 'he'. You have a vagina, Imma call you 'she'. If you have both, then you get to choose pronouns.
What has this got to do with socialism? Socialism is an ideology based on establishing a redistribution of wealth and assets i.e its focus is economic conditions. Those on the right always bang on about the 'regressive left', so please actually read up on what socialism is prior to making these farcical assertions.

Socialism is not the same the same thing as liberalism

I'm pretty cool with the whole LGBT scene, transexuality, I understand it and give it due respect, it bothers me not at all, but it does seem sorta....I don't know....stupid that someone is getting done in by the police for basically uttering the wrong pronoun.

THE WRONG PRONOUN IS GETTING A GUY INVESTIGATED BY THE POLICE.

I....I have no words.

Is that the world we live in now? Where the wrong pronoun is considered a heinous crime?

Reminds me of this:

He did it deliberately and in a way to cause offense

as I have said they only know this person as a she so to call her 'he' on numerous occasions (and he was being a massive dick while doing it) is wrong and we expect better

Really

How about calling her '******' is that ok?

No because that is hate. Calling someone their natural sex is fine because some people believe that people born with a penis are men and disagree with the trans gender movement.

her sex is female

this is simply transgender bullying and I didn't think people would try and justify this.
It seems the complainant is the sort who seeks to be offended (professional victim). This will not help transsexual people at all.

Different people have different opinions. And no, the transgender MP's sex is male. That's a fact. You can't change your sex. The person's gender is female according to them but their sex is not.
who cares? on one level, I'm thinking "well, if they want to be called the other gender pronoun then all power to them and we should just let them be whoever they want, so long as this doesn't negatively impact our own lives". but on another level I'm thinking "they kind of *are* a man though - especially if this is pre-op...if you've got male DNA, male genitals etc theennn you're kind of a male aren't you - sorry that we don't call you what is basically a lie. this is the purely objective outlook, not a hateful one - I want to be chinese but that doesn't mean I should expect people to start calling me "ho choy" just because I've contoured my skin and started squinting - I can't exactly put my race as chinese on a census as well when I'm literally not the thing I'm purporting to be"

The one thing that is clear in this is that his or her sex is definitely male. Gender is not sex. He or she apparently has a penis (I haven't checked) and probably an abundance of testosterone, but is seriously lacking mammary glands and is deficient in the vaginal and ovarian departments. This indicates his/her maleness.

I could identify as a wellington boot but it wouldn't stop me actually being human. Similarly, identifying as a female does not make a male female.

Gender is a different matter.

I do for a start as does she and the law

at the end of the day the bloke was being a dick towards a member of his council and he's going to get what he deserves.

Nope.

her sex is female

we don't get to decide what people identify as.

I know a guy who is transgender. I am totally cool with his choice to be a man. I never knew him before he began identifying as a man. But even so there have been a couple of occasions where I have accidently (although not in front of him) referred to him as a she. Partly this is because, in the back of my head, I know he is female, and partly it is because he only really hangs around other women, and partly it's because people clearly still don't quite treat him like he is a man. He is definitely not treated like a 'cis-gendered' person, and routinely protests against cis-gender 'privilege'. He is transgendered, and he is very open about being trans gendered. It almost feels like he identifies as trans more than he does as a man. So naturally I still find it difficult to feel completely convinced that he is actually a man, and occasionally my own lack of conviction slips out. I can completely understand how it could happen, and I would not be surprised if a similar thing happened here.

Actually, her sex is male. Her gender is woman.

Question, if a doctor worries that she may have prostate cancer, does he 'get' to identify as her as male?

Sex refers to whether you have XX or XY chromosomes. You cannot change sex as a human.
All the power to him. If he identifies as being female and wants to dress as such, he should be allowed (unless there is a dress code) without discrimination. If someone were to discriminate against a transsexual person, I would be the first to speak up but referring to a man as 'he' is not discrimination.

It reminds me 'Rachael Dolezal' who blacked up, curled her hair and tried to claim she was black because she identified as being black, when she is in fact completely white (no black in her family at all). My point is just like Dolezal is white, this councillor is male (so he needs to accept that).
