You wouldn't. They probably think you know more than the contents of the degree. Lol
Typical offers require
A Level: A*A*A
IB: 40-41 points, with 776 at Higher Level

Website updated-as expected.
Anyone applying to Economics at Cambridge?

Let me share my stats:

GCSEs: 8 A*
AS: Maths (A), FM (A), Economics (A), Physics (A)

Possible Colleges: Peterhouse (with written work), Magdalene (no additional requirements)

Which college are you thinking about?

Are you considering submitting written work?

Have you tried out the specimen pre-interview assessment (ECAA)? How do you feel about it?

Hi Economics applicants 2017 entry,

I've started a new thread for the 2017 Economics applicants, anyone interested is welcome to check out!
http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=4270868
I'm surprised that no one has replied yet haha.
Anyway stats:

GCSE: 10 A*'s and 1 A^
A Levels: Maths, FM, Chem, Econ (Pre-U). EPQ
Sat whole Maths A Level this year and got an A* (92.2 UMS average - ****ing M1!)

Looking at Peterhouse and Corpus Christi

Might practice some TSA's for the ECAA.

Not looked at the ECAA properly but I'll give it a try in a few weeks. The Cambridge website suggests that 70-80% would be a very strong score so I guess that's my aim..
gcses: 10 A*s

A-level: maths a* (doing fm next year full) (95.5%)
AS level: Maths A , Economics A, Physics A

Strongly considering Emmanuel college or St johns

tsa ucl looks useful, but cant think of anything else fore the ECAA

Yes!! Some questions from M1 this year are unseen before.
I've tried out the ECAA and the crucial thing is your speed --- even though most of the questions themselves are not undoable, but time is limited. Waiting to see how the reading+essay on "conventional wisdom" will go.
How are you going to prepare for the essay?
GCSE: 11 A*
A Level Subjects: Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Chemistry

AS Results:

Maths - A - 98% UMS
FM - A - 96% UMS (91 in M1 screwed me)
Don't have Econ or Chem bc reforms

From 2015: AAA in Science, Citizenship Studies and English

College: Caius

Haven't done preparation as I'm not sure if I'm even going to apply because I don't want to have to take entrance exams or have an interview when it's such a small chance of acceptance anyway. Plus I haven't started my personal statement so I doubt it'd be ready by the Oxbridge deadline. But I did love the uni at the open day so idk.

Your maths&fm are excellent. Your GCSEs are very good.

There's no reason why you wouldn't have a good chance.

American here, so I will be posting AP scores:
AP:
(5) - BC Calculus
(5) - Macroeconomics (have a chance for a perfect, but I won't find out until November-December because...well, Collegeboard).
(5) - Microeconomics (chance for a perfect)
(5) - US History
(5) - European History
(5) - English Language and Composition
(5) - Chemistry
(4) - Art History :frown:, ruined my streak, and probably scored this because I had a midnight track meet the night before, and I couldn't skip it because the team would've lost without me, maybe :P.
Also will be taking another nine APs in my last year of high school.
ACT: 36 Math and Reading, 35 Science and Writing.
A - Intermediate Microeconomic Theory at Harvard (Sophomore honor economics course).
A - Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory (^)
College: Trinity <3, it has been my dream for a long time haha.
Commented because, hey, why not!

Well for Oxbridge, especially economics, no one really has a 'good chance'. Everyone has good grades. As in, I know I'm just as likely to get accepted as any other applicant, but that's still a small probability, and the application process seems too stressful for it to be really worth it. If I have my personal statement done in a couple weeks leaving me enough time to actually prepare for entrance exams then I will probably apply, but right now I haven't started so seems unlikely.
All of you seem like such geniuses...

GCSE equivalent (I suppose? Didn't take GCSEs):
4A+ 5A

AS:
Maths A (90 UMS average), Economics A, Psychology A

A Level:
Maths A (84 UMS average, retaking C3 and C4 for an A*, I did the whole Maths A level in Year 12)

Doing the full Further Maths A Level in Year 13.

College: Pembroke or Clare I suppose.

Feeling a bit disheartened now, don't know if my results are good enough :/

hah im in the same boat. They look at each candidate individually (apparently) so its not a definite rejection.
IGCSE: 7A* (yeah i went to a bad school which only offered 6 subjects with 7 grades - one is a double award).

A Level Maths: A* (584/600 UMS) , Doing full A Level FM next year.
AS Edexcel Economics: A (147/160)
AS AQA Physics: A (112/140)

College: Haven't decided

WIthout the UMS this year it is just so confusing for me to compare myself with others and know where I am at, since exams from each exam board is different anyway. I am bit unsure about how I did compared to other candidates - my physics raw marks are a bit low i reckon.

CIE AS : Maths (A) 99 PUM
Econs (A) 95 PUM
Physics (A) 92 PUM

College : Applied for St Catharine's

Good luck everyone! All the best

I know a few people who got in with relatively low UMS (low 90's) and that was before the admissions assessments were introduced. As long as you do well on the test and have a decent interview by both applying your skills and also displaying a breadth of knowledge and interest, you should be alright. Only thing for sure is that if you don't apply you won't get in.

Sorry for the late reply!

I guess doing further reading would really help. I'm trying to read The Economist and other books on Economics.
