Introverted/shy Newcastle freshers 2016

Is anyone else here a little nervous about freshers? I'm quite shy and don't drink so am quite worried about making friends! I know Newcastle has a reputation for being a party city but personally I'm not huge on the clubbing scene but still want to meet new people, is anyone else in a similar situation?

Hiii! Im in the same boat. I'm really shy and don't drink so I'm quite nervous too. I did buy a freshers wristband and will hopefully be going to some events but I'm scared of not meeting a lot of people too 🙈

I thought there are only a couple of nights when it's worth attending. Is there anything else I am missing?

Hello
Just wanted to say - don't worry. I moved to Newcastle last year and didn't really know anyone. It does have a reputation for being a party city - but it's also a very friendly place. Contrary to popular belief - not everyone drinks heavily here and there is sooooo much to do other than partying. There are so many lovely cafes - (including cat cafes!) museums, galleries and outdoor spaces to appreciate. Everyone I have met has been helpful and friendly and not everyone is a massive extrovert - which you'd maybe expect. It's a really good place to live and I've been very happy here - as an introvert  Hope you all enjoy it too x
Hey, if you want to make new friends and get to know the area then I would definitely recommend getting the NUSU wristband. I did last year and I'm so glad I did, as most of the people in my block had it too. There are lots of daytime activities organised with it, such as meals out, cinema trips, sports events, cocktail making, daytrips - you will find something you're interested. If you're worried about making friends and aren't keen on nights out then I would definitely recommend it - the activities provide a good opportunity to socialise with your flatmates and also meet new people
Hey guys any of you in castle Leazes and want to swap with me

Got a super cheap, quiet but large room in st Mary's college

xx
